Need to complete BS in technology or CIS within 6 months - azmats - 08-20-2009 Hi. I need to finish the BS degree in technology field either from Thomas Edison or Charter Oak( to use federal Loan money ), recently got foreign degree evaluation from Education Credit Evaluators’ Inc .and came up to 31 CREDITS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, I need some expert input to show me the path to complete my BS degree, do I need to stay in the same major to apply all my 31 credits towards BS degree or I can move towards BS in computer information system and still get credit of my previous 31 college level credits as i would prefer it; ( I 'm working as SAS programmer for last 5 years and can be applied 3 more credit for SAS certification).I'm planning to test most of liberal art courses through CLEP testing. Looks like COSC is better bet as I can also go for GRE . I need guidance of BS degree road map for my future journey. By the way I’m focusing to enroll in MS Analytics program at North Carolina state university in next six months Does it make realistic sense? , Please advice, I know I can get a better advice from here. Regards Az Need to complete BS in technology or CIS within 6 months - Old Rusty Pipe - 08-20-2009 Mechanical Engineering Technology credits are not likely to be all that applicable to a CIS degree. By swapping over, you are likely to take a hit in credits that can be applied. TESC has a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering Technology that can be found here: Thomas Edison State College | BSAST in Mechanical Engineering Technology Credit Distribution With TESC, you can apply up to 18 FEMA credits for the Free Electives. The actual major is 45 credits, so you'd have a few courses left to take. Your SAS programming would also be applied to the degree, as there is a programming language requirement. COSC has a Technical Studies option that can be found here: Technology Studies Concentration, Major - Charter Oak State College Part of this concentration requires 15 Upper Level credits of Mechanical Engineering Technology, so you may or may not meet the requirements. You must have a minimum of 27 credits of MET credits, so you may actually be almost done with the concentration. The other 9 credits of the 36 credit concentration can all be tested out of. As you also mentioned, they accept GRE Subject Exams. There is a Physics requirement for the Technical Studies option, so you could always try to meet it with the Physics GRE. That would also include a huge chunk of extra elective credits as well.
