Psych or Educational Psych - Drummerboy - 08-04-2009
For those of you who have taken both, which one is easier? My college will accept a 64 on Psychology and a 50 on Educational Psychology. Is Psychology just that much easier? I only need the CLEP for an elective, so I could take Introductory to Business Law (a 50), as well. Of the three, which would you advise?

What's your personal background. If you have worked in business and had experience with the law, you might like that, but if not -- someone else may have to tell you how it was if you were to take it green.
I took and passed Intro to Psych on 7/8 with a 68 using IC, REA, and this forum.
Then I took DSST Lifespan Development on 7/29 with a 66. It built upon Intro to Psych and had more detail.
I'm studying Educational Psych now but have not taken the test, plan on that one week from tomorrow. It does build on what material in both of the above and then some with much more detail and background concerning educational issues and I'm only half way through the REA book. I think this will be the more detailed of the 3 but not that it can't be done, just plan on studying all of the material thoroughly.
Any other feedback from someone who went directly to Ed. Psych??

Well do you need the basics of psychology or do you want to learn about human interaction and how we learn?
Then you will know which one is for you.

[COLOR="Navy"]I would say that pound for pound they are about even. That said, I would also say that getting a bare bones 50 is easier that having to get a 64.

I agree. Scoring a 50 on a harder exam is still easier and less of a risk than having to score a 64 on an easier one.

Having taken both, I wouldn't say that EdPsych was harder per se, however it was a natural next step after taking IntroPsych first; one can pass either of them w/out a prereq course in advance.

Hi,
I didn't do the Educational Psychology CLEP, but I did the Intro Psychology CLEP this week and scored a 67 after studying (ironically) the 5 Steps to a 5 AP Psychology Exam.I was able to read it in 2 days, and it helped tremendously because it contained all the basics I needed. I also practiced on all 3 of the Peterson's online demo tests.
