Share your Post-TESC Grad School Application Experiences - GringoInTijuana - 07-07-2009 Hello guys, I am very interested in hearing about what kind of feedback you have received when you have applied to graduate school pro9grams after graduating from TESC. What I mean is, how was your degree received? Any GPA issues for those who tested out 100% or close to it? Anyone question you about your GPA and the amount of courses comprising it (if for example, you only have one or a few graded classes from TESC in all). Please post so that those of us planning on continuing on to grad school (Law School for me starting in January 2010!!!) can get an idea of what to expect.

What I mean is, how was your degree received? I rec'd acceptance letters to the colleges I applied to, no feedback or comments of any kind from any of them. Any GPA issues for those who tested out 100% or close to it? N/A I tested out of my gen eds only. Anyone question you about your GPA and the amount of courses comprising it (if for example, you only have one or a few graded classes from TESC in all). No. And, I technically didn't have enough graded credits for 1 of the programs I applied to (MS Hospitality, University of Illinois) but was accepted anyway. My GPA is 3.875, and I think I had 30 graded credits through TESC, and 6 graded credits from 2ea other colleges. I also included my transcript for my associate degree, and that had graded credits, but that school was NA at the time, so it didn't "count" for credit. I know this isn't a ton of help, but just tossing it out there. Law school is a whole 'nother story, so I hope you can get some relevant help!! Please post so that those of us planning on continuing on to grad school (Law School for me starting in January 2010!!!) can get an idea of what to expect. "Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?" Share your Post-TESC Grad School Application Experiences - bawhitsett - 07-12-2009 What I mean is, how was your degree received? UIS was the only school I applied to, had no issues whatsoever. Any GPA issues for those who tested out 100% or close to it? I had completed 100+ classroom hours with a 3.3+ GPA, so N/A. Anyone question you about your GPA and the amount of courses comprising it (if for example, you only have one or a few graded classes from TESC in all). Not at all. Share your Post-TESC Grad School Application Experiences - bkbarden - 07-12-2009 I'm also curious to know if anyone on here who tested out of their degree (or came close) has gone on to grad school and what their experience was.
Share your Post-TESC Grad School Application Experiences - thatbrian - 07-15-2009 I completely tested out (TESC) and I'm happy to say that I will be starting my MA on 9/10. Since I didn't have a GPA, I was very pessimistic about my chances of being accepted to my school of choice, which has a reputation for being "academically challenging". The admissions department did contact me with questions about my (missing) GPA, so I explained that I had used credit by exam to obtain all 120 credits, and that TESC only gave letter grades for classes taken directly from them. I also emailed them a spreadsheet that I had put together that calculated my GPA. To determine my letter grades for each exam, I used materials from Excelsior (mainly), and CLEP and DSST. Also, I had taken 5 ECEs, so I sent a transcript (with my application) from Excelsior as well as TESC, because the Excelsior transcript does show letter grades on it. That got you in? I remember you asking what the GPA would be for this or that test awhile ago. This is very good to know. Just one more topic of conversation for the nay-sayers. If you don't mind me asking, are your classes going to be online? I will keep a track of my son's GPA this way too. He's got a 4.0 so far, I think. So when he takes the ECEs, we can still use the grades because its on a transcript from EC. Cool! For me, I would love to just test out at TESC....they seem like the way to go for me since they do offer that Humanities degree which kinda sounds 'artsy'. I would rather have an art degree, but there's no way of testing outa that one! Share your Post-TESC Grad School Application Experiences - thatbrian - 07-15-2009 No, it is a B&M school. I can't tell you how happy I am to hear it can be done... I have completely tested out of my degree and just recently started thinking about grad school. It's great that you got in with no GPA! Can I ask what school you are going to? |
