HELP! What would my CLEP score be? - McNulty_CM - 06-30-2009

I am a newbie. I just purchased the 2009 CLEP Official study guide from College Board. The first exam I plan on taking is Freshman College Composition, without essay. I answered the sample questions in the Study Guide and answered 51 of 61 correctly. How does this correlate to a CLEP score. How is the score computed?

Probably in the 70+ range. That looks like an easily passing score.

With most of the cleps, around a 65/80 is an A. So, you are probaly in the B range. You only have 10 questions that you missed, so keep working those, then go back and take the whole test again.

I wonder why the official College Board practice tests have LESS questions than the real exam. That seems really bogus! Which 20 questions are not represented?

I much prefer the REA CLEP books, since they provide 2 or 3 80 question exams. With only one test it is kind of easy to memorize the position of the answers, etc. I would go through the IC cards or some REA tests to make sure you know it all.

Thanks for the input. I am feeling confident. The Study Guide I purchased has sample questions for each of the Clep exams. That is probably the reason they do not provide a complete exam. They do also offer the subject specific study guides, which I believe have 3 practice exams. I just didnt want to spend the extra money on the subject specific guides, if I could help it.

Based on Malc's post, about 81% is an A, and you had 83%, so I think you are probably good to go.

You should take some of the free Peterson's Tests. Free Peterson's Tests They have practice tests for a ton of CLEPs. And it's FREE!!!!

The weird thing here is that there are fewer test questions than on the actual exam. I second using the free petersons. But, you probably have this in the bag if you are just looking for a passing score.

If you got 51 out of 61, you're definitely ready to go. A general rule of thumb is that if you can get about half the questions right on the CLEP practice tests, you pass. If you get 3/4 or more right, you'll get a very good score--mid 60s at the lowest.

Just finished the Petersen practice. got 72 of 91 correct, about 80%. It scored me at an 80 as well, I don't think that is accurate. Anyway, Im taking my test on Thursday. Wish me luck.
