hi people
i just took the bio clep and passed with a 59
it was AWFUL!
i studied very intensly for 3 weeks for approx 4 hours a day.
I used REA and instant cert and did 2 petersons tests. The test included material i had not seen in any of these sources for study.
I was really dreading seeing the result and was not sure if i had made it!!
awaiting my english comp clep result too.
feeling relieved and lucky

Debzspoon,
My brother and I are studying for the Biology CLEP and I was wondering if you would be able to give me some info.
Do you remember what scores you made on the Peterson's tests and/or the REA?
Do you know what types of things came up that were not covered in either resource? If so that would be great so I can study better. Smile
This test looks quite challenging!!
Thanks so much,
Allison

Congrats on your pass!

That's an Awesome score, especially with the questions that weren't covered in any of the prep material!!

I missed this one by one point, but think my main problem was with the graph questions. They are tricky and none of the clep prep I took prepared me for them. I understand ACT prep and AP prep test books have a lot of these type questions. I'm personally going to work on that a lot before trying again. Like I said those graphs entailed about 35 questions total on the version of the biology exam that I took. General questions I was very well prepared for, so I highly recommend graph studies for those who are not all that familiar with those type questions.

I took the Biology CLEP this morning and made a 40. I studied using the CLEP books/test, REA book/tests, Instacert, Hippacampus, college textbook, Biology.com, etc. Anything I could I used. My test mostly covered things I never saw in any of my studying. I think I should be "lucky" I made a 40. Sad

I say "amen" to that sister. That is exactly how I felt after taking this exam. I studied extensively for six weeks with all kinds of materials, watched video lecture series (the whole biology lecture). Studied clep, took petersen tests and passed. Did extensive research on internet and had previously had over 12 hours of natural sciences, including biology and still failed this test. It was not anything like the material stated in the clep exam. I still think that clep has revised this test and the new material has not filtered down to our instantcert academy. By the way I also used extensively the IC flashcards.
I'm currently enrolled for biology 1 with LSU through distance course. Going to get those six credits one way or the other. My cc won't take natural science clep - its biology or chemistry (no way I'm trying chem at this point).

Not meaning to hi-jack this thread, but how is the LSU biology course? I am almost ready to call it "quits"...I'm 51...have a certification in the legal field. I don't have to have the Associates; just wanted to complete that with my hours I learned years ago. I took Physical Science at Penn Foster College...only to get a 72 in the course and then they told me that a "70-74 is passing, but they give it a D". Excelsior College will not take a "D". I was thinking I might take the LSU course. My daughter teaches at a community college here in town, but they don't offer a science in the evenings in the summer and I work full time. To drive to San Antonio college is about 1 1/2 hours for me.
