Some tips on the ECEs - malcs - 04-24-2009

I have taken 8 ECE exams over the past 2 months. Here are a few of my suggestions:

1) Get the matching book (older edition is fine)
Read the chapter intros and summarys.
2) Run through the IC flash cards
3) Read the tips in the exam specific forum
4) Buy the $65 ECE practice exam. You get two tests and the rationalle for the answers. Take the tests and pour over the questions that you got wrong.
5) Take the free 25 question test in the Exam Description booklet. The 25 questions are distinct from the ones in the practice exam.
6) Take the quizzes on the book's companion site.

If you don't use the matching book you will not have complete coverage, and will be constantly trying to find things using Google. You will also miss the author's perspective on things that is used throughout the exam.

Look on half.com and find an older edition of the book, with lots of highlighting for $50, and sell it back when you are done. Look for the foreign paperback edition to save even more.

While this sounds like alot, I can do this in about 30 hours.

I hope that this helps!
