management information systems - creationstory - 03-07-2009 alright.. i've taken CLEP CIS and DSST Intro to Computers.. what is the difference between that and DDST Management Information Systems? management information systems - bmills072200 - 03-07-2009 creationstory Wrote:alright.. i've taken MIS is very similar to the CLEP CIS, but just a little bit more deep. Based on your scores, you can probably handle MIS with minimal study... good luck management information systems - ykborinquena - 03-11-2009 NOT CLEP but DSST I have all my reqs for my degree and my evaluation came short of 3 credits, so I have to take this test for upper level credit. I have been studying the CIS and MIS IC flashcards questions. How hard is this test? How is it score? Any tips? For those with experience on this test ...is the IC studying good enough? My test is tomorrow. Sincerely, Ykborinquena management information systems - malcs - 03-11-2009 ykborinquena Wrote:NOT CLEP but DSST Hi, I just passed the MIS test. I have been in the IT world for 25 years, and did not study. I scored 456, which is a good mark, but I expected to get 500. My opinion of this test that it is very poorly done. At least 10 of the questions were about M** acronyms, like MIS, MDS, etc. Pay close attention to those in any of the study guides or flash cards. All I can say is that nobody uses half of the acronyms that they are talking about. It seems like the person who wrote the test ran out of questions, because there were a number of near duplicate questions on the test. Know the definition of primary storage, secondary storage, working memory, ethernet, CRM, SAP, mainframe, object-oriented, user friendly, reasons for outsourcing. moores law, RAM, Operating System, application program, Managment Decision System, Expert System, Entity Relationship Diagram, client-server, peer-to-peer. (No need to go too deep on any of these, but you should be able to think of a paragraph that would explain each item) Best of luck! management information systems - jonasling - 03-11-2009 Is the MIS DSST all multiple choice or how much is written? management information systems - malcs - 03-11-2009 creationstory Wrote:alright.. i've taken I have not taken the other tests, but have worked in the field for many years. My experience with the MIS test is that it was more corporate, or management oriented than you would see on more general computer tests. Know about CRM, Decision support systems, expert systems, and all of the acronyms that you can pick up for the various types of corp/mgmt systems. About 1/2 of the test questions are about common computer concepts, which you probably have encountered in the other courses, or whilemaintaining your own PC. management information systems - malcs - 03-11-2009 jonasling Wrote:Is the MIS DSST all multiple choice or how much is written? It is multiple choice, with no trick questions. I don't remember any long, situational questions either. management information systems - 15%Luck - 06-13-2010 I'm going in for this sucker on Friday...I bought a textbook but haven't had much time to study for it. I took Intro to Comping not all that long ago. Hoping I'll do ok on this. *crosses fingers* |
