Hi!
I'm getting ready to take my EC Foundations of Gerontology exam in a few days. My question is do I need to know all percentages in the statistics or just the basic facts of the statistics? Ex. What percentage of oldest-old women live in poverty or just that they are the highest group? All the statistics are swimming in my head and I'm afraid I won't be able to keep them straight. I'm fretting over these specific numbers. If I don't need to know them then I can relax and focus on the rest of the info. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Yes, I passed with a B. It wasn't that difficult of an exam. It was long though. Thanks for asking.

I took it last week and got a B.
You should have a good idea of the numbers, and know the group that has the largest number. I don't think you need to know exact numbers.
Be sure you know the % with Alzheimers.
In addition to the IC cards, I took the quizes at the end of each chapter in the on-line supplement to the book. I found this to be helpful.
One thing to consider is to also run through the Psyc of Adult&Aging cards, and take the two tests when done. They are very closely related, so you will be taking two tests with only 1 1/2 times the amout of effort for a single test. I took mine 3 days apart, and got an A and a B.
Another useful source of test info is in the answers to the 40 test questions in the booklet. Take the test in the booklet, then look at all four answers to each question. Each is a nugget of information, so you end up with 160 new pieces of information.
