The best book I can suggest to study for the essay portion is Writers Inc by Patrick Sebranek, Verne Meyer, and Dave Kemper. It's got a ton of really good suggestions and examples for writing essays, as well as lots of concise info on grammar/syntax rules, commonly misspelled words, etc. Then, practice writing quick, timed essays to get yourself used to having to write a whole essay in 45 minutes.
