DSST Intro to Law Enforcement - doocrue - 12-03-2008

Has anyone taken this test? If so what was the best study reference. I see several listed under the sources that DSST recommends but would like to know which book to buy tomorrow. Thanks, Rick.

I did absolutely no studying for this exam and passed with 59. The test was very much common sense. If you watch Law & Order, NCIS, or any of the reality-type crime/detective shows, you've probably picked up enough to pass this exam.

IC is all you need. If you don't already have it take DSST Criminal Justice at the same time.

Make sure you study the FBI's UCR (Uniform Crime Report) off the internet, serveal questions on UCR that are not common sense. Also concentrate a lot on the IC flash card sections on case law (last section) pay attention to 4th, 5th, 14th amendments, and case names. Also review sections involving police corruption and police discretion.

I am an officer and finished test in less than 30 minutes, scoring well. The above is in my opinion what the average test take should study. The rest of the test I would consider common sense type questions. Good luck to all!!!

Thanks for all the direction. I haven't been logged in for over a month and I log on tonight and find my thread at the top. Wow what a coincidence. Thanks again.
