Penn Foster Classes for TESC credit - rjmadd - 10-27-2008

I was thinking about taking the PF Managerial Accounting and Business Writing course to transfer into TESC. Anyone have relevant experience, either positive or negative, with PF, or these courses?

The advisor at TESC confirmed that the ENG 121 course meets the Business Communications requirement. I am essentially trying to lighten my last semester (12 credits left) in January by taking the two PF courses, but I'm not certain if the Penn Foster experience is worth it, or if I'm better off just taking the two classes at TE.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

I took the Penn Foster Structured Systems Analysis and Systems Design courses and found them to be, how should I say it, not much of a challenge. I finished in September, had my grade transcripts posted to ACE in less than a week and I am now in the process of having my ACE transcript sent to TESC. Before I took the courses I had in writing from a TESC academic advisor that these courses would satisfy my degree requirement. Make sure you get that in writing.

Penn Foster was difficult to deal with, don't get me wrong they were friendly, but they kept forgetting to send things out and I had to stay on top of them.

I can't speak for your classes, but my tests were all open book, including the finals.

For the record, I got an A in each class, but if I received anything else I would have been disappointed.

Worth the money for me.

I did a PLA at TESC for Business Letter and Report Writing I, and I'll do the PLA for II starting in February. If you've written a lot of memo's and reports while working that might be an option for you as well.

Good luck!

I have taken the ENC 121 from Penn Foster. I finished it in a month including having it transcript. The cost was $200 (includes books); there are 6 modules and there is no final exam just a final writing project. All assignments are electronically submitted and were graded no longer than 2 days. I was short on time and money, and this was the solution for me. If you are looking to be educationally stimulated, this may not be the course for you, if you are looking to fill a requirement, I recommend this course.

Good Luck

Are the exams for the PF classes proctored or online?

Penn Foster Classes for TESC credit - bobaloo000 - 10-28-2008

The quizes were on-line un-proctored. The finals were written and proctored. For a proctor any non relative with a college degree satisfies their requirements.

Perfect - thanks for that info!

Mae -

Did that class satisfy the managerial communications requirement for the TESC BSBA?

Thanks Mae and Bobaloo, the posts have been extremely helpful. How do you go about getting the grade transcript posted to ACE?

Wendy, I have spoken with an academic advisor at TESC, who verified that the PF 121 course does, in fact, meet the Business Communications requirement for the BSBA; however, I will heed Bobaloo's suggestion, and get it in writing first.

You can email enrolled@tesc.edu and ask your question, then keep the response for your records.-that's what I did.

(PF) ENC 121 does not have a final exam, just a final project. (No proctored exams) It does have 2 online exams, 3 writing assignments and a final project.

To have ACE transcript your credits from Penn Foster go to :https://www.acenet.edu/transcripts/register/index.cfm , register as a user and follow the instructions- very easy. (If you would like the transcript mailed express, they will for a fee.)
