Random Musings About What Next Degree To Do.... - DegreeNerd - 10-02-2026 Thought I'd post this, just some notes from what I've picked up by reading here and elsewhere, but also it's not so serious (just random musings for now, rather than any firm plans), so sticking it in Off Topic! Rather than a main discussion forum. Master's in Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Saylor University Absolutely insanely good value, at only $5/exam! (essentially making the degree "free") Saylor University is probably going to rise up the relevancy charts in the long run too, first Florida, next the world. https://degrees.saylor.org/mod/page/view.php?id=20140 (I should keep an eye out on what extra degrees they offer in the future, hopefully they bring out a STEM Bachelors degree one day: https://degrees.saylor.org/ ) Master of Computer Science (or maybe Master of AI, or maybe Data Science) at University of Texas at Austin US$10K at a Top 10 university is very appealing, but it would also be by far the toughest and most difficult degree here to get. https://cdso.utexas.edu/mscs Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of South Queensland Sub AU$20K for an online STEM Masters from a "local" (well... same country! Not same city) university is quite appealing. Maybe I can get credit too, from prior studies, which could bring down the cost by as much as half? https://www.open.edu.au/degrees/master-of-science-mathematics-and-statistics-university-of-southern-queensland-usq-sms-mas https://www.unisq.edu.au/study/degrees-and-courses/master-of-science https://handbook-guide.unisq.edu.au/aos/2027/specmathstatmscn?year=2027 (or this: https://www.open.edu.au/degrees/master-of-data-science-artificial-intelligence-and-machine-learning-university-of-southern-queensland-usq-aim-mas Or even one of these other ones: https://www.open.edu.au/degrees/master-of-artificial-intelligence-data-science-and-cybersecurity-flinders-university-fli-aid-mas , https://www.open.edu.au/degrees/master-of-information-technology-griffith-university-grf-mit-mas , https://www.open.edu.au/degrees/master-of-information-technology-and-artificial-intelligence-griffith-university-grf-iai-mas ) Master of Applied Management at Southern Institute of Technology Can't beat "Free"! (I think it applies to Aussies too?) https://www.sit.ac.nz/programme/course/Master%20of%20Applied%20Management/campus/SIT%20Online Master of AI from Udacity / Woolf College Of course it lacks the prestige of UT at Austin, can't even hold up a candle to that! But it is a lot cheaper, and would be a lot less painful to complete as well. https://www.udacity.com/masters-artificial-intelligence Master in Fintech and Blockchain from ENEB Probably done far too much via ENEB already.... but Fintech/Blockchain would be right up my alley! https://eneb.com/training-programs/master/fintech-blockchain/ Or even... some random German degree? https://www.hochschulkompass.de/en/degree-programmes/study-in-germany-search/advanced-degree-programme-search.html?tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bsearch%5D=1&genios=&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bview%5D=&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bfach%5D=&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bstudtyp%5D=3&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bzusemester%5D=&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Babschluss%5D%5B%5D=3&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Babschluss%5D%5B%5D=41&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Babschluss%5D%5B%5D=37&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Blehramt%5D=&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bsprache%5D=2&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bbesform%5D%5B%5D=f&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bname%5D=&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bplz%5D=&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Bort%5D=&tx_szhrksearch_pi1%5Btraegerschaft%5D= (original source: https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/eneb-masters-degrees-why-does-getting-universidad-isabel-i-certification-matter.64167/page-4#post-615789 ) Or Finnish: https://www.arcada.fi/en/study-arcada/continuing-education/course-calendar/big-data-analytics (source: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Arcada-University-Big-Data-Analytics-Specialisation-studies-Master-level-30-ECTS ) RE: Random Musings About What Next Degree To Do.... - DegreeNerd - 10-03-2026 A couple of others to add to the consideration, just because I noticed they're free (but not sure can be done from across the ditch? Even though as an Australian Citizen I could pay domestic fees in NZ): Master of Software Engineering: https://www.yoobee.ac.nz/courses/technology/software-engineering-master Master of Applied Management: https://www.sit.ac.nz/programme/course/Master%20of%20Applied%20Management/campus/SIT%20Online A wild card to consider, at just US$2.4K: MBA in Business Analytics: https://www.coursera.org/degrees/mba-business-analytics-jgu (10-02-2026, 09:03 PM)DegreeNerd Wrote: Master in Fintech and Blockchain from ENEB Welllll........... I'm now starting this!
RE: Random Musings About What Next Degree To Do.... - DegreeNerd - 10-03-2026 "Big Data Analytics" at the Finnish University of Applied Sciences (Arcada University) Only €600 for 30 ECTS at the Masters level of study! But what would such a qualification even be called?? Not "a Masters in Big Data Analytics"??? Would it be "a Postgrad Diploma in Big Data Analytics" I guess? https://www.arcada.fi/en/study-arcada/continuing-education/course-calendar/big-data-analytics Sadly applications closed for this a few months ago, but I'll keep an eye out for when it reopens next year! I guess you'd be half expected to carry on and do the Master in Machine Intelligence and Data Science (MIND)?? https://www.arcada.fi/en/study-arcada/masters-degree-programmes/mind Costs then for that seems steep: €12,000/year https://www.arcada.fi/en/study-arcada/tuition-fees-and-arcada-awards/tuition-fees-masters-programmes Applications open: 7–21 January 2027 https://www.arcada.fi/en/study-arcada/application/masters-application UNED looks like a possibility: Máster en Matemáticas Avanzadas (Master's Degree in Advanced Mathematics) at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) https://matematicas.epes.upm.es/master/ Mathematics is a universal language, so I'm sure with Google Translate I could stumble my way through the assignments and research! So long as I don't get forced to take any exams in Spanish??? But at a total cost of only about two thousand euros, this is very appealing. Master’s Degree in Computational Neutronics at UNED https://www.munc-uned.com/ It seems they do officially offer at least a very few degrees in english, such as this nuclear physics degree. Again, at the very cheap price of just a couple of thousand euros! Applications for it are opening up at the end of this month. From the LinkedIn post about this: Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D. will be offering a new Master's Degree in Computational Neutronics (MUNC). This one-year program (60 ECTS) is the first master's degree worldwide focused exclusively on computational neutronics. It is an applied, industry-oriented, program designed to train students and professionals to tackle real-world nuclear analysis challenges. A technical background in Physics, Nuclear Engineering or related engineering fields is recommended, and some familiarity with computational tools will be helpful. However, the programme is designed to help students progressively build the practical skills needed for computational work in neutronics. The programme, taught entirely in English, is of hybrid format with 7 courses delivered 100% online and in-person exams that can be taken at any of UNED's 80 global centers. The final Master's Thesis (18 ECTS) is carried out in collaboration with a "market agent" (an industry or research host) to solve real technical problems. It is also possible to do on-site internships at major organizations like ITER Organization, Fusion for Energy, IFMIF-DONES, Proxima Fusion, CIEMAT and more. However, while on-site internships are encouraged (with mobility funding available), the thesis can also be completed fully online. Edit: just realized a big negative, none of these 80 global exam centers are located in Australia, or even anywhere else in the entire South Pacific! What would I do?? Maybe they'd let me travel to Canberra to sit the exams at the Spanish Embassy?? RE: Random Musings About What Next Degree To Do.... - LevelUP - 10-07-2026 Since you have so many valuable links to master’s programs, this thread would probably be better suited for the Grad Discussions section, where others can find it more easily and benefit from the information as well. It would also help if you updated your signature to show which degrees you already have. That would make it easier for people to give you relevant recommendations. It would also be helpful to know whether you’re looking for this degree to advance or change your career, or if it’s something you simply want to pursue out of personal interest. I was thinking about taking it to prepare me for business ventures in the future. Then I settled for a Coursera course from Michigan State. You already have quite a list of graduate degrees And I thought you were still in progress on the Doctor of Business Admin at TESU? The issue is that I don't have enough degrees - undergrad and grad akin - and I can't find a stopping point. I will most likely go to all of the schools listed in the forum and on our alt sources of credit wiki. I am at the end of the field project for TESU's DBA program. I am in the data collection phase, so 1 more course to go after this - synthesizing data and presentation. Yes, all the topics have in-person examination, seven in total. We might explore an equivalent course (same content, no examination) for next year. It will less official than an "European master", but it would solve situations like your. In any case, it would not be ready before course 27/28. Bad news that there isn't any workaround for this degree for people like myself who are overseas and far away from any exam center. (what if I'd sit it in say Spanish Embassy? Or if they had rigorously proctored online exams? Either of those options would have been good for me! And my preferred approach) But good news that they have plans for the future for people like myself, to offer a less official form of this masters degree in neutronics that's without the requirement to travel vast distances to take in person exams. Fair enough! Feel free to put this thread wherever you think it is most appropriate to be. I was just intending this thread to be some musings out loud as I ramble my incoherent thoughts to myself about maybe possible perhaps studies in the future, just because I was wishing to put some pen to (virtual) paper to keep some records of my thoughts to return to later one day in the future. Thus why I thought I'd put it in "Off Topic". As not looking for any particular recommendations right now :-) Have also just configured my signature now, so it's no longer empty :-) RE: Random Musings About What Next Degree To Do.... - DegreeNerd - 10-13-2026 Found another "FREE" online masters degree (but only if you're a local): Master of Fintech and Investment Management ~ Lincoln University (it's in NZ) https://www.lincoln.ac.nz/study/study-programmes/programme-search/master-of-fintech-and-investment-management/ |
