Excelsior 113 vs 105 transfer credit clarification? - thanks4help - 09-14-2026 Hey everyone, I am planning to apply to Excelsior University for the BS in Business with no concentration, but I have found some conflicting information online and was hoping someone here who has gone through the process recently could clarify it. From what I have read, Excelsior may allow students to transfer up to 113 credits toward the degree. However, I have also seen that students enrolled through a partnership program are required to complete at least 15 credits directly through Excelsior. My understanding is that a partnership student would be someone receiving a tuition discount or other benefit through one of Excelsior's partners, such as Sophia Learning, Study.com, or another partner organization. Most of my transfer credits are coming from Sophia Learning and Study.com, but my goal is to transfer in 113 credits and complete only the 7 credits that must be taken directly through Excelsior. If I apply directly to Excelsior and do not enroll under or use any partnership tuition discount, would I be able to transfer up to 113 credits and only complete these 7 credits at Excelsior? INL 102 – Information Literacy: 1 credit IND 101 – Cornerstone A: Foundations: 3 credits BUS 499 – Strategic Management Capstone: 3 credits In other words, does simply transferring Sophia and Study.com credits make me a "partnership student," or would the 15-credit residency requirement only apply if I actually enroll through a partnership agreement or receive the partnership tuition rate? Does my understanding make sense? I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this recently or knows how Excelsior currently handles it. Thank you! Pretty much it you get your money back for a month's worth of time at Study.com moviebox I had a bunch of RA credits from my community college and I just transferred in some straighterline and SDC courses which brought me up to the max transfer credits at the time (somewhere around 2022/2023) RE: Excelsior 113 vs 105 transfer credit clarification? - bjcheung77 - 10-19-2026 (10-19-2026, 12:31 AM)Dustin21 Wrote: did taking that Study.com discount end up forcing you to do the full 15 credits at Excelsior, or were you able to skate by with just those 7 core credits? Someone should apply to Excelsior and update us with more details. From reading previous threads, 105 or 113 were for different degrees and situations. <wink wink> Hopefully someone who just went through this free Excelsior application could shed some light, I'd like to know which program can transfer in 113 and which requires the 105. I recall the BSLA is 113, the BSBA is now 105 because of course requirements (3 classes may have changed)... BJ, are you planning on knocking out the BSBA via Excelsior? The new subscription seems enticing and a workaround for accomplishing the cornerstone and capstone between two different semesters. |
