ETAMU BS Elementary/Early Childhood Education - degreeappreciator123 - 08-31-2026

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had experience completing the CBE BS in either Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education at ETAMU. If so I was wondering if you could tell me your experiences with how "acceleratable" it is. I already have a previous Bachelors degree and I don‘t have need for the licensure pathway so in your opinion could it be done in 1-2 terms? Also, does anyone know if the Texas Government course is waived with other GE requirements for a second bachelors?
Thanks for all the help!

Those two just launched, so might be hard pressed to find some one who has completed either of these.

Spartacus definitely has more insight on the acceleration factor, but from the course reviews that I have seen, it practically a copy and paste of UMPI. For those that went there, it's quite common to hear students complete 4+ courses in a term. Some students do 10+ a term, but never set your expectations for that. I would say that it is quite possible to do it in 1 term, but realistically for the average person, I think 2 terms is more realistic.

I am unsure of the exact number of courses needed for these 2 degrees, but from how fast you can complete one of these, if you only need 10-12 courses, It might be possible to complete in 2 terms if grading turn around time is quick, but I would plan for 3 terms to be safe.

As far as Texas Government being waived if you already have a bachelor's that is an excellent question that I am not sure has been discussed before. I could see that going both ways to be honest. The school administration is extremely helpful, so if you call you should be able to get an answer to that question.

My understanding is that every college/university (not sure if that includes private) in the state of Texas must have Texas Government as part of their curriculum. I would imagine that there would be no way around it, even if you are coming in for a second degree.

I think some others have asked before if you can just take the course outside of ETAMU, but I would imagine for most of us, that would cost nearly half the entire cost of one term at ETAMU. Unless you're Texas resident, it may not be in your best interest to pursue doing that one course outside of ETAMU's program given that you'll most likely end up completing several courses for the cost of $2k for their bachelor's programs.

I do agree with you though (I concede you have actual experience with the university itself) that a safe bet would be 2-3 terms if someone came in with max transfer credits. So at the end of the day, most people may pay between $4-6k for a bachelor's degree from there. It's an even better deal (a steal practically) if one were to somehow manage to complete the entirety of the program in a single run (we have people that do that at UMPI with the BLS - Management and MAOL programs respectively). I would generalize (with the exception of Texas Government tacking an extra course on) that it may be quite possible to do it too, granted, you grind night and day.

Has anyone else enrolled in this program? I know I already have the M.Ed, but sometimes going back for the undergrad for specific areas when degrees like these are incredibly cheap make it quite enticing and connect theory with foundational and technical-level knowledge, plus, I think a Bachelors at times may open more doors and be viewed more positively, especially since this is a Bachelor of Science with a specific/concentrated discipline.

Surely, a handful of the education courses on Study.com can hack away at this degree.
