Amazon Prime Day 2026 - LevelUP - 06-22-2026 Amazon Prime Day 2026: Shop the best deals from Apple, Adidas, Hanes, Shark and more up to 60% off before the summer sale kicks off https://shopping.yahoo.com/deals/breaking-news/live/amazon-prime-day-2026-shop-the-best-deals-from-apple-adidas-hanes-shark-and-more-up-to-60-off-before-the-summer-sale-kicks-off-095951806.html I got the AirPods Pro, and they're pretty cool. The sound quality is out of this world, and the noise cancellation works almost as well as having expanding foam earplugs in your ears. They're great for Zoom calls and listening to music. Any good deals you've seen? Is anyone planning to buy anything during Amazon Prime Day this year? IDK if its just me, but Macs after only a few years become increasingly difficult to daily without bootcamping Windows OS since Mac OS is so highly dependent on its app ecosystem. Granted, I do use my 1999 Mac G3 for shits and giggles, a 2011 MacBook with Windows 7 (god bless Windows 7) and I do use every now and then a 27inch 2019 iMac. I sure do miss intel-based Macs RE: Amazon Prime Day 2026 - wow - 06-24-2026 (06-23-2026, 08:30 PM)Mint Berry Crunch Wrote:(06-23-2026, 04:59 PM)SteveFoerster Wrote: The 15" MacBook Air is just $200 more, and for a computer one is likely to be able to use for a decade, that's worth it (especially for those of us whose eyes aren't getting any younger). It's not just you. I like Macs because the accessibility features are ready right out of the box, but the longevity is not good. I usually stop updating systems a few years into owning one. The longest I've pushed one is ten years, and it was getting rough at the end. Turning them into Linux machines at the end is an option, though. That's supposed to work pretty well. As for Prime Day, I'm not usually an Amazon member but happened to have a membership this month because I needed something delivered in a pinch. My approach is to look at my wish list and items I've removed from my cart to see what's gone on sale. Also Amazon's recommendations based on my history. I found a couple great deals on things I'd been planning to buy anyway. As for the rest, trying to resist buying things just because they're a great deal. I'm sure it's not just you, but it isn't me. I do some video, and Macs are well known for being fine for that. Most of the rest of what I do is in a browser window, and for that any stable system will do. Occasionally I use LibreOffice, Obsidian, or GitHub Desktop, all of which run fine on an old Mac. That said, the last version of MacOS it can run is getting pretty old. I used to have Linux on it (MacOS pissed me off when they dropped their 32-bit subsystem out of the blue so I switched for a few years) and eventually I'll probably have to go back to it. (Linux Mint, of course, so you'd love it! )
RE: Amazon Prime Day 2026 - Sagan - 06-24-2026 I'm not into this. I've been a Prime user since its inception, but I've never, ever spent even one moment looking at these sales. Why? Because I have what I need and go get what I do not have. Lowering prices doesn't change that. I never got the notion that one saves money by spending it on something you did not already deccide you needed. That's just one guy's view, and certainly not a judgment on anyone else. Shop 'til you drop! RE: Amazon Prime Day 2026 - LevelUP - 06-24-2026 (06-24-2026, 07:07 PM)Sagan Wrote: I'm not into this. Well, for some people, it might be worth checking their saved items to see if anything they were planning to buy is on sale. That's mainly what I do. Amazon Prime Day deals are often just as good as Black Friday deals. RE: Amazon Prime Day 2026 - SteveFoerster - 06-25-2026 (06-24-2026, 07:07 PM)Sagan Wrote: I'm not into this. My kids will tell you that they grew up hearing me say, "If you don't buy it, it's 100% off!"
