I don't see the 2026-2027 catalog up on the UMPI website yet. They may not have officially announced changes to the GEC yet.

In the July 1st, 2026 subheading right under the current GED requirements section. I think it only just updated late last night or early this morning (could be wrong there).

This is the 2025-2026 catalog though. GEC has ALWAYS required a minimum of 40 credits since YourPace was created. The additional wording is because they are going to offer a 90 credit bachelor's degree. This doesn't say that the course requirements for the GEC is changing.

A person on another forum was saying they are and now foreign language is no longer required

Well you won't know officially until it's published from UMPI. There have been sooooooo many rumors over the years about courses at UMPI and other colleges. Always go by what is written in the catalog for the year you started the program and remained an active student.

Just a note regarding NECHE Standards Update 2.6:

Quote:2.6 A bachelor’s degree includes a general education requirement of at least 40 semester credits, and an associate’s degree includes a general education requirement of at least 20 semester credits. Baccalaureate-level degrees requiring fewer than 120 credits include general education courses totaling at least one-third of the overall credits. All undergraduate degrees provide students with the opportunity to take electives.

Which means it is possible for a 90-credit (3-year) Bachelors to only have a 30-credit GEC requirement, removing things like the foreign language requirement would make sense in this situation.

Curious to see the reception of a 90-credit bachelors from both students and faculty at UMPI
