If you're good at tests, then the BSIT at WGU is probably a good option. If you're really good at writing, then PUG may be a good option. Personally, I completed my BACS at TESU as a second degree, so I would lean toward that path if you really want the CS degree. If you can manage a BLS degree at UMPI in one session, then the BACS will only require the capstone, and everything else can be transferred in. RE: Bachelor Computer science or IT Degree - WDue - 04-01-2026 Adding onto what origamishuttle said, I spent a few weeks researching both degrees and this is what I was able to compile: For CS, as origamishuttle said, TESU is a good option as a second degree because of the flexibility of transfers, I'm considering that myself. Another option is WGU, it depends what your career is in, a lot of programming can be self taught but if you want a more rigourous/applied CS program for CS related jobs then WGU might be a better fit, as it's more math heavy. For IT, I explored TESU, WGU, PUG (Purdue University Global), UMass Global, UMGC and SNHU. The last two aren't fully competency based and classes are taken over a fixed term, so you won't be able to finish it as fast as some of the other options. TESU is similar for IT, as there are two courses that don't have any transfer equivalencies and you need to take 2 science courses/labs. Overall, you'd need to take Wireless and Mobile Networking, Windows Server Configuration, TESU's required Information Literacy course and Physics I/Chemistry I with lab, then do the second part of the science course, I'm not sure both can be taken in the same term, and finally the capstone. As origamishuttle explained above, PUG is a lot of writing, it's on a quarter credit system so it's 180 credits, there's more of a workload because each module has sub modules, and it can be a lot of writing and projects just for one class. UMass Global has little information about it, but I was able to find Reddit threads and I don't see anyone who finished quickly. No proctored tests, just a lot of writing and projects like PUG. Because it's not as well known and there's not much information, I stopped researching it as there are better well known options. WGU works if you have a lot of the IT certifications already, they'll transfer in as classes but you would still need to do 10 classes there as a residency requirement, fortunately, there's only about 10 classes that don't have a transfer equivalent, so it wouldn't be extra work at WGU. Because of my certifications, this would've been the best option for myself too, but I don't like doing a lot of tests so I opted for TESU from a flexibility to transfer your classes in perspective. RE: Bachelor Computer science or IT Degree - bluebooger - 04-01-2026 > For IT, I explored TESU, WGU, PUG had no idea what PUG is so I googled PUG university got this Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG) is a higher education institution in Ghana with multiple campuses (Abetifi-Kwahu, Asante-Akyem, Akuapem, Tema, Kumasi), focusing on faculties such as health sciences, business, and technology. It is a recognized private institution created by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, offering both undergraduate and graduate studies. Key details about PUG (Presbyterian University, Ghana) include: Faculties and Programs: Offers courses in Science and Technology, Business and Development Studies, Health and Medical Sciences, Education, and Law. I seriously doubt that's what you're recommending this is why its always good to put a link to the school you're talking about not everyone is familiar with every acronym RE: Bachelor Computer science or IT Degree - WDue - 04-01-2026 (04-01-2026, 12:39 PM)bluebooger Wrote: > For IT, I explored TESU, WGU, PUG When I googled PUG all I got was the dog breed , but joking aside, it's Purdue University Global. I've edited my post to reflect for clarity as well!
RE: Bachelor Computer science or IT Degree - LevelUP - 04-01-2026 We tend to use a lot of abbreviations on this forum that may be hard for some people to understand. There is a wiki that lists the most common terms. Wiki Common Terms https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Common_Terms |
