I would absolutely support the moderators in deleting or modifying posts (perhaps with an "information compiled by ChatGPT, not by the OP") that are just copypasted from AI. I realize that OP and others who post this stuff may be well-intentioned and not trying to spam, but this stuff basically IS spam, and maybe worse than the blatantly money-motivated links that intentional spammers post, because those are obviously trash to most readers, where this stuff comes across as "I am a human who did actual research" unless the OP explicitly states "I asked ChatGPT and am posting their useless answer here even though any one of you could ask ChatGPT to get the exact same useless answer." OP, this may come across his hostile, and that's not my intention. We're all here because we want to learn, so it's important to know which resources provide reliable information and which don't. ChatGPT is designed to string words together in a way that make sense. It is NOT designed to provide reliable information. All it really does is grab words from the Internet and other electronic texts, "decide" what is statistically most likely to create a plausible (but not necessarily truthful or verifiable) answer to your question based on how often those words appear in certain contexts in its database, and then string those words back together to give you an "answer." If you ask it something basic, for which almost every source is going to agree on an answer, like, "What color is the sky?" it will likely give you the right answer. But if you ask it a specialized question like, "Where can I get a free degree?" or "Where can I get ACE graduate credits?" the answer is going to be complete garbage, both because it doesn't have enough sources to draw from, and also because many of those limited sources are clickbait and full of incorrect information already. Pasting ChatGPT's answers into the forum without clearly telling us that's where you got it wastes the time of other forum members who may then try to act on the information you provided or to corroborate it. If you just told us up front that it was ChatGPT, we could know to ignore it as the word salad it is . In short, if you're not willing to take the time to research and write something, it's not worth anyone else's time to read it or even think about it. When you post ChatGPT's answers to the forum, that's what you're asking us to do. People will vary in their opinions on whether or not this constitutes rudeness, but I think at a minimum it shows a lack of consideration, even if it's not intentional. Take researching for degree information the same way you hopefully approach school work: an opportunity to hone your research and critical thinking skills by doing your own legwork and relying on the legwork done by other humans who care about the topic. RE: Possible Professional Certifications ACE Evaluated for Graduate Level Credit - Jonathan Whatley - 05-05-2025 I feel bad for the OP that the AI program he used misdirected him! |
