English 102 - addision - 08-20-2008
Hi, I posted this also in the Big 3 forum but thought that someone here may know the answer as well.
Ok,
I am still a little confused. I am curious how this works for both excelsior and TESC.
If I have already taken English 1a at my local college (I beleive this equates to eng. 101) can I still take the english with essay clep and get credit towards eng. 102?
I believe this is for 6 units, so would I just be awarded 3. Or is it that since I have taken an english course I am just sol.
Also how would A&I Lit. work with each of these two schools?
Thanks

I am a current TESC in the same situation so I will relay to you what my advisor told me. Since you already have ENG 101 then if you take the English Comp w/essay then the 3 credits of it will count as ENG102. Graded classes kind of out "weight" testing as far as an TESC eval, so they would keep the graded class from your CC. 3 credits would go toward English 102 for the English Comp w/essay, and the last 3 credits from that exam would go on your eval as duplicate credit and basically disappear.
A&I Lit counts as 6 Humanites credits at TESC.
Oh, I am not an EC student but I am pretty sure that they English Comp w/essay CLEP won't complete the written requirement. I think it has to be a class or their ECE English Comp. Not sure so if possible some can verify.

Your English class will work at EC for the WER, but not at TESC. You will only get credit for Eng 101 and you will need to take eng 102 or Freshman Comp with Essay or English Comp W/Essay to complete English requirement.
If you test out, make sure you get the test with Essay.
