Poll question - pass rate among members - cookderosa - 08-20-2008 I would like to make a rough estimate at the pass rate among people here on this board. It seems to me, that it is VERY high. I frequently hear on the outside that people "never" pass CLEP exams! Sorry, but you'll have to do a math question in order to participate. Take the number of your PASSED exams (CLEP, DSST, EC, TECEP) and divide by the number of total ATTEMPTED exams. (7 divided by 10 = .70) Move the decimal number two places to the right, and you have your "Pass rate" as a percentage. (.70 = 70%) So, what's your pass rate? Poll question - pass rate among members - Lindagerr - 08-20-2008 As can be seen from my signature I have taken 2 TECEP 3 DSST 4 CLEP This board and the people here have been a big help. I have 6 more test planned at this point and I would not be as confident as I am without the help of everyone here. Poll question - pass rate among members - Degreeasap - 08-20-2008 Taken and passed 6 so far! 2 DSST's and 4 ECE's, 1 more ECE to go! Poll question - pass rate among members - dplyrooted - 08-20-2008 I've taken 5 tests and passed 4. I flunked my very first one which was the clep Computer, then turned around and passed the Dsst Intro to computing Poll question - pass rate among members - cookderosa - 08-21-2008 I think it's amazing that the pass rate is so high- this should be very encouraging to anyone who visits here! Poll question - pass rate among members - OnMyWay - 08-21-2008 I do too. Great poll Jennifer! ![]() Poll question - pass rate among members - categ - 08-21-2008 Well.....I am at 100%. Yup, took one and passed one. How is that for success! (thanks for polling before I take my second one, haha) Poll question - pass rate among members - lrgaul - 08-22-2008 I actually didn't realize that we were such an unusual group until I finally noticed the stats on the wall at my local community college a few months back. The overall ratio for a passing score (50+) on CLEP exams taken there is slightly better than 1:3. That seems pretty crazy when you consider the numbers that we are seeing here. This poll was a great idea! Poll question - pass rate among members - gcalvin - 08-22-2008 This might be a good example of "sample bias" for those studying for their Statistics exam. ![]() Those most likely to have seen this poll are probably self-selected for higher than average success on exams. The fact that they know about this forum already gives them an advantage. And those who have failed a lot of exams probably aren't hanging around here anymore. And even if they are, they may be too embarrassed to answer the poll (even though it's anonymous). -Gary- Poll question - pass rate among members - cookderosa - 08-22-2008 gcalvin Wrote:This might be a good example of "sample bias" for those studying for their Statistics exam.>> While this is true, I think many people (myself included) simply did a google search to find CLEP study material and stumble in. Lurking is not necessarily an indication of future success rate of exam taking, though I do believe lurking here can be motivation enough to at least try the first exam. I think it is encouraging for lurkers who stop by to see that exams CAN be passed, and that there are, in fact, MANY people here doing it every day. You don't have to have a high pass rate to take exams- to post your rate- or to even stick aroung....but again, I think seeing that other people are doing it brings it into reach for many people who have the misconception that "those people who test out of classes must be really smart." The reality is that we here are all just really motivated and in my opinion, ANYBODY can be motivated...it's a choice. ![]() |
