Looking for Computer Science SOMETHING - IneedCS - 01-08-2025

What kind of degree do you want?: Computer Science but honestly, anything Computer related, Data Science, CIS, whatever will get me that bachelors degree stepping stone so that I can hopefully move onto my graduate degree.

Age: 27
State: Maine
Current Regional Accredited Credits: 33 + 12 enrolled and in progress come 21'st

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:

Any certifications or military experience? no

Budget: Not really an issue

Commitments: Full-time software engineer, outside of that, nothing.

Timeline: This summer

More context:
So, I have spent the last year earning quite a large amount of Sophia credits, as well as RA credits. I am currently in university, but my university is giving me an incredibly hard time when it comes to Sophia credits and I would much rather just switch to a different university, due to a lot of reasons. I have approximately 129 credits right now, quite a bit that are RA, the rest Sophia, and then the college composition CLEP with Essay (scored a 64 on it). I currently have a 4.0 in my undergraduate studies. This semester I am taking AI and advanced Python, Advanced data structures and algorithms, Intro to information systems security, and Computers and Culture. I have explicitly been taking CS related classes refusing to take general eds at my college because their ACE policy said they accepted ALL ace approved credits, but didnt say that they only accept them for general electives, so now i'm stuck. I would like to transfer to wherever I could get a bachelors degree in a computer science related field as soon as possible. I currently am a full-time software engineer and really have goals of moving onto my graduate degree in artificial intelligence or just general computer science. Also, I did receive my AS BOG from Pierpont this last August. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what my best options would be here, and I just don't know. You wonderful people here at Degree Forum have helped me out in so much, just reading your posts and such over the last 8 months, truly truly inspiring, so I finally had to get on and ask for some explicit help, Thank you!!

Welcome to the board, it's great you've providing info on the addendum and template but I was wondering why... You've selectively left out some parts of the template such as your state and age. There are specific tuition discounts and requirements for each degree program, I would highly update the addendum/template with this info alone, in addition to anything else you can add. Since you have the Pierpont BOG AAS, do you have the time to wait for Fall 2025 for the UMPI BA Comp Sci? If you don't, you can selectively do UMPI BAS with a couple/triple minor along with 3-4 classes that go towards the MAOL, come back for the BA CS when it's ready! Lastly, finish the MAOL!

Umpi is going to have a yourpace BA Comp Sci??? That might actually be worth waiting for, i'm currently finishing out these next 4 classes at my University of Maine school, so I wouldn't be enrolling into anything else until Summer semester arguably at the earliest. I also updated age and state in the OP

My plan was TESU's BA in Computer Science, but I'm just not sure if that would be a good route to go at this point.  Uhg! I've gotten to a point where I'm almost overwhelmed.

I believe you're eligible for a Computer Science minor (requirements: http://catalog.umpi.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=7&poid=810&returnto=260) if you decide to go to UMPI for a BAS or other Bachelors right now for this Spring. I believe your Advanced data structures and algorithms could qualify as an equivalent to the Discrete Math requirement, otherwise you should just take that class at your current RA institution to make sure it qualifies as transfer credit if you want UMPI.

As for what you have right now, an alternative to TESU could be University of the Cumberlands. It would be more expensive than TESU at $220/cr but you can transfer in 90 Sophia credits, making the total cost around $6,600. 8-week terms with the next session starting March 3rd: https://www.ucumberlands.edu/academics/undergraduate/computer-science

I was thinking that after this spring semester is finished, I could apply for TESU's BA CS, I believe I will need Discrete mathematics, Computer Architecture, (potentially Operating systems not sure if my Linux class will cover this?), Capstone, and potentially the Embracing diversity and inclusion class that is required? From my understanding sometimes TESU will accept Sophia's embracing diversity class as a substitute with an appeal? My thoughts are after this semester, apply, and then take those classes, and or whatever I need to get the full-time flat rate tuition price, and cover whatever credits I may need.

I also like the UMA idea and the ucumberlands idea.
