Can you give me some info? - Geortumpen - 12-23-2024 I know this is a primarily american focused site, but i know a german fully online university that is really cheap and fully accredited in germany and US and Canada. its called international university of applied sciences, im still on the fence about going to it, so im just asking if you guys know about it and if its worth it for someone on a really tight budget. RE: Can you give me some info? - allvia - 12-23-2024 Here is a thread on the subject from 2022 - https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Credibility-of-IU-University There are far more affordable options. RE: Can you give me some info? - bjcheung77 - 12-24-2024 Before any of the readers provide you any advice or info, you may want to provide us more details on the addendum and template in order for readers to know your budget, commitments, study habits and many more: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-New-to-DegreeForum-How-this-Area-works As suggested, there are some providers that may be more affordable or less expensive with or without scholarships. Is there a specific degree you're looking at from IUAS? IUAS is a good university, but their student inquiry follow up seems to be an issue... RE: Can you give me some info? - artem - 12-24-2024 I am currently studying at Constructor University (formerly known as Jacobs University) It has an excellent fully online Applied CS program with great professors. I enjoy studying. It also offers other business and STEM programs. RE: Can you give me some info? - Tomas - 12-24-2024 Probably depends on how low will be the price you get, as that depends on where are you from, whether you can get scholarship, etc. For comparison with eg. TESU etc. you can check previous threads here about computer science programs. It is private university accredited in Germany, so it shall be recognized everywhere else. I would expect that eg. Constructor University, or OPIT on Malta, will have more modern and practical curriculum - but I didn't check it, just the vibe I got while investigating IU a year or two ago. It is not flexible so you can't finish it in a year or two like the most popular options on this forum. If you are not from US, you can also check SNHU branch in India, for comparison, if you are on a tight budget. IIT Guwahati and BITS Pilani, both on Coursera, are other cheap options, but Indian degree is not suitable for everyone, and equally inflexible as IU. Whether it is worth it, tough to say, depends on many variables (where you live, where you wish to use it, what job you want to use it for, your budget, how long you wish to study, whether you wish to continue with masters,... ). Accredited diploma is accredited diploma, that is all you get there IMHO. RE: Can you give me some info? - artem - 12-25-2024 Constructor is more like a traditional university. It conducts research in different areas and has two campuses in Germany and Switzerland. Bachelor's degrees take 3 years and cost 5000 per year for online and 20000 for offline versions. Different scholarships can reduce or waive tuition. As I remember it was ranked 400-500 in worldwide Times university ranking. PS All degrees include writing a thesis and a bachelors has an internship. It is not so easy. I think it will not suit everybody. Also, you can check for suitable programs from Woolf. It is an accredited university from Malta. There are some very affordable variants. https://woolf.university/academics/degrees |
