Straighter Line Textbook Question - kikikoder - 12-14-2024 Can anyone shed any light on reading the textbook for Micro Bio and/or Nutrition? The previous course I took had a Chapter listed to read under each Topic. These two do not mention it at all in the lessons. It's just listed as the title of the book on the syllabus. Am I expected to know the book cover to cover? I found the books on Open Stax but the chapters don't really match the title/order of the courses. I don't really mind reading textbooks #nerd if I need to but don't want to waste my time if its not covered on tests or the final. Thanks in advance ![]() RE: Straighter Line Textbook Question - bjcheung77 - 12-15-2024 StraighterLine includes the textbooks (the last time I used them was in 2016/2017 and I did 34 classes with them, and purchased but never did their science classes as I didn't buy the lab kits back then...) When I did both Microbiology and Nutrition, it was open-book exams, so I basically sped through the chapters, created summaries for myself, and made Cliff/Coles notes of what I didn't fully grasp... I wouldn't waste time with the OpenStax even though they're free supplemental info, the online text has everything you need... RE: Straighter Line Textbook Question - LevelUP - 12-15-2024 Microbiology and Nutrition are now closed-book exams. If you have enough points before the final exam, you may be able to pass with a low final exam score. RE: Straighter Line Textbook Question - bjcheung77 - 12-15-2024 Actually, come to think of it, one of those classes may have been open book way back when, try your best to get good marks and focus on the final (even if it is closed book now)... It doesn't really matter as you just need 70% to pass, try to get a passing score before you even hit the final exam. There were times when I was very close to passing the class as I was almost at 70% and the final just added a few percentage points for me to pass... You had to search the book for the answers. |
