President Trump is President-Elect!
Peace and love towards my colleagues here.
I loved President Trump's victory speech. It was so Full of hope and healing.
My favorite part was when he turned the floor over to Dana White.
Dana gave a big shout out to Joe Rogan.
Now my moment of schadenfreude:
To the Totalitarian mob at Degreeinfo - I should just pray for you.

Well, let’s hope Trump acts like a conventional Republican and the crazy-sounding things he and his inner core of supporters/allies said (being a dictator, putting political opponents in prison, placing Democrats before military tribunals for treason, ending free speech rights for people/speech that Trump doesn’t like, ending the right to vote for women, replacing the income tax with tariffs, ending elections, etc) were just political rhetoric, fantasies, or something akin to that. With control of the White House, Senate, and House, Trump largely will be free to do whatever he wants. He has already said he isn’t going to make the same mistake he made the first time and fill his cabinet with people who place loyalty to the Constitution over loyalty to Trump, and I take him at his word in that. One way or another, and for good or ill, it’s going to be a dramatic next four years and our country probably won’t be recognizable at the end. It will also be really interesting to see if the Republicans who, Trump included, have heretofore maintained the traditional Republican position of allowing states to decide things like abortion or if we see national bans on abortion, pornography, vaccine mandates, and other political decisions, thus concentrating power in the hands of the federal government in profound and new ways.

The reality is that without 60 Senate votes, which Trump is unlikely to secure, passing most bills is impossible. Trump would only be assured one reconciliation bill, allowing him to pursue tax cuts or budget balancing with a simple majority, though any tax cuts may expire, just as they did under his previous administration.
As for abortion, many states passed abortion rights through ballot measures, bypassing state legislatures. Trump himself stated that states like Florida went too far in restricting abortion, which contradicts the majority opinion. And Trump doesn’t need 60 votes in the Senate. He needs 50. The Senate adopts its rules at the beginning of each new session and only 50 votes (plus either a 51st or the vote of the Vice President) are required to adopt those rules. We have already seen the filibuster set aside for federal judicial nominees and cabinet secretaries. If the Republicans want to end the filibuster, they can easily do it when the Senate reconvenes on January 3, 2025. Mitch McConnell has said they will preserve the filibuster for most legislation. Perhaps, only time will tell, won’t it?

I'm generally a "kumbaya" type of person. I believe in finding ways for people to come together, even in a polarized political climate.
How can we bridge our differences and find unity? Maybe it starts with focusing on the small things we have in common:
Entertainment:
- Enjoying good restaurants
- Watching or playing sports
- Sharing fun games
- Finding humor in everyday life
Shared Values:
- A love for animals
- Treating others with kindness and respect
Politics:
- We all want honesty and transparency from our leaders
- Most of us can agree that nearly all politicians are flawed

The result was as expected, you can only act smug/patronizing for so long until people rebel.
Calling half the country garbage or Nazis wasn't a pro strategy lol...
I know many people who stayed quiet, didn't waive flags or signs and voted Trump. Harris was the safe "default" choice no one really wanted.

LOL. Trump and his surrogates have insulted every group, except for non-Jewish White men who vote Republican. Trump lost Black people, women (all races combined), Jewish people, Asians, Latina women, and college-educated White people. If it weren't for non-college-educated White people, he would have had no chance. Once White people become a plurality instead of a majority, a candidate like Trump will have no chance at winning.
