TESU BA CS RA Credits - Brasdor - 10-31-2024 Hello everyone, This is my first post. After browsing on degreeforum for the past couple hours, and opening dozens of tabs, I am confused. I have done almost 90 credits on Study.com and I'm not sure how to proceed from here. I think i already took some courses that I might not be able to transfer, such as POS-1100 American Government | Political Science 102 CIS-3510 Software Engineering | Computer Science 307: Software Engineering (based on https://study.com/college/school/thomas-edison-state-university.html) --- on the website for course equivalency, Computer Science 307 corresponds to CIS-2510 at TESU, a course that does not exist. --- on the same website, Political Science 102: American Government (study.com) corresponds to POS-1000 United States Government, a course that also does not exist. I have also asked TESU and study.com about this, but I been told that I have to be accepted at tesu for academic evaluation in order to discuss course equivalencies with academic advisors. I'm not sure if those are typos or something else. I have now applied to TESU and done the IELTS test on Monday and Tuesday, and am still waiting for the results. As soon as those arrive, I should fulfill all requirements and be eligible for enrollment. Should i enroll straightaway in order to ask the advisor on how to proceed? Or should i finish as many Credits (with TECEP and Study.com or Sophia) before enrolling? Another question, regarding out-of-state tuition: In my case, I believe the 16-credit term for $4639 is the cheapest and most suitable. But I'm not sure if that's the best (fastest) way to do it. Your Location: Switzerland Age: 29 Degree: BA CS / BSC CS RA: None (i have few credits from universities in Switzerland ), Can i take TECEP courses for RA credits? If yes, which ones are recommended? RE: TESU BA CS RA Credits - Avidreader - 10-31-2024 I think you might need to wait until the transcript evaluation is finished and see how some of these study courses fit in. There is far more info about Sophia evals because it is cheaper and more users on the forum take them. I think it would still be a good idea to have those European courses translated to English and evaluated by an approved service and see if they count as RA credit. Thank you for your answer, I will certainly try. RE: TESU BA CS RA Credits - davewill - 10-31-2024 You should be able to ask your questions even as an applicant, but it's much easier just to get all the transcripts in and get the official academic eval. TESU advising is such a pain, that they often cause more headaches than they solve. However, I would encourage you to go ahead and become enrolled by registering for the 1cr Medical Terminology TECEP. Don't actually take the test, just register for it. You have more freedom to send in transcripts as an enrolled student. There's no downside except the $50 it costs for the TECEP, and you have up to a year to actually register for courses before you might have to do it again (which is why you don't want to take it). I have payed the 50 USD, but as a "non-native English-speaking applicant" I have to submit either Toefl/Ielts test with either 79 or 6.5 respectively in order to be eligible for enrollment. Currently waiting on test-results. I will try to enroll for the tecep Medical Terminology for 1 Cr, just to see if it works. RE: TESU BA CS RA Credits - bjcheung77 - 10-31-2024 TECEPs are the way to go if you really need the RA credits, having said that, the info above mentioned you have some Swiss credits, if you get those evaluated and have 15+ RA equivalent, then you don't have to do anything but the 15 RA residency credits at TESU to complete the degree. Have those Swiss credits evaluated if at all possible to TESU, if the credits turn out to be less than 15, you can always supplement those with TECEPs, or if you go the controversial way, more international credits evaluated - such as using ENEB evaluations. Hello bjcheung77 Thank you for your answer. Yes, evaluating my swiss credits, i believe that is the plan for now. As i am still missing a few credits to reach the 90 ACE that can be transferred ( currently 81/90). But I don't know which course i should take as I already took 2 classes (Software Engineering and POS-1100 American Government) i am unsure can be transferred. This leaves me not knowing what to do right now:S. Also, for the controversial way to get international credits evaluated, if by ENEB you mean the business school in Spain, i have not come across any information on how to transfer credits. You won't be able to do that until you are accepted, though. No reason not to send whatever transcripts you have ready, though. They will evaluate the first two as soon as you are eligible (might even do it immediately). If the transcripts are already there, then it can happen quicker. TESU does not accept IELTS? - Brasdor - 11-02-2024 Now i ran into the next problem. After successfully taking the IELTS online Academic exam, TESU does not accept if I send them the test results. But TESU is not listed in the organisations, which accept IELTS (appearantly TESU is not one of the 12500 organisation that do). I have reached out to IELTS and they have said that TESU needs to register on their website in order to send them my results. Has anyone had problems with this before? |
