Pierpont---AAS Change - midnite123 - 10-20-2024 I was told today that there are changes to the BOG AAS degree. I was told you now have to take 12 credits at Pierpont. Anyone hear anything? RE: Pierpont---AAS Change - bjcheung77 - 10-20-2024 Moving this from General Education to Pierpont & other associates degree... Basically, if you didn't follow through with the info two months ago and applied for graduation by Oct 4, it's too late to get the Pierpont BOG AAS for $350. Please review the sticky threads in this sub forum for Pierpont, particularly, the one with the 'Pierpont new residency requirements' sticky thread, I updated a couple or more of those sticky threads first posts as reminders.... The BOG AAS degree was a victim of its own success. I don't understand why they didn't go to 15 RA credits including just 3 credits from Pierpont. The Pierpont required course could be West Virginia Government/History with a couple short papers and an online proctored written exam to ensure basic literacy. There is obviously a big demand for programs to turn assorted credits into real degrees. Their accreditation is up for review and there are some things they need to work on. RE: Pierpont---AAS Change - newdegree - 10-22-2024 The ship has sailed, and new requirements are in place per the recommendations made by the accrediting agency. The people who wanted to degree hack credits and certificates messed up the program for others, as it became overwhelming for the staff to maintain it. I can't blame Pierpont for moving forward, but they must also make an income to provide money for staff and maintain a campus with resources for the actual students who attend on-campus classes. The only positive about this is those who did not finish college but used this program to get a degree will benefit from the new requirements as the degree will be taken more serious. Anyone who does any research will see the BOG AAS was always intended to have at least 12 RA credits. |
