Turnitin plugin - DavidGood - 08-24-2024

Quick Tech Q re TURNITIN -

Does anyone use this?

Is it worth messing with?

Does anyone run / has anyone ran any other AI / plagiarism checkers?

I use Grammarly for, well, grammar and find those darned sentences in passive voice that plague me. I ignore the other suggestions.

I most certainly don't use any AI to write my documents, but maybe I should be checking my work with something. Thoughts?

Thanks bunches.

David

Institutions use that on their end... They have other platforms or services that will check plagiarism. Grammarly and other freebies are good enough, I use word counters just to make sure I have more than the required number. I usually don't pay for extra features unless you really need them... Most of the time, the freebie versions work just fine for my case use...

Yeah that’s what I was thinking.
They mention a plug-in for word, but I’d rather not mess with it.

I don't. UMPI runs it on work you turn in. You can see the Turnitin score below the other feedback you receive.

I glanced at the percentage it showed for entertainment purposes. It can naturally fluctuate, especially for different forms of writing, eg bullet-point lists vs longform writing. But I never worried about it, and no instructor ever mentioned it.
