TESU ASNSM in Computer Science / AAS Applied Computer Studies - newdegree - 07-24-2024 So over the summer, I had a lot of free time on my hands since my job gave me paid time off from July 01-August 14. I decided to speed-run some courses and certificates just for fun. Over 18 days of nonstop working on courses (10-12 hours a day), I was able to complete the following. Sophia Credits: Business Law Financial Accounting Introduction to Business Managerial Accounting Principles of Finance Principles of Management Project Management Developing Effective Teams The Essentials of Managing Conflict Introduction to Information Technology Introduction to Java Programming Introduction to Networking Introduction to Programming in Python Introduction to Web Development Visual Communications Ancient Greek Philosophers Introduction to Ethics Calculus 1 College Algebra Introduction to College Mathematics Anatomy and Physiology 1 Anatomy and Physiology 2 Environmental Science Human Biology Introduction to Nutrition Microbiology Health, Fitness, and Wellness Lifespan Development Microeconomics US History 1 Coursera Certificates: Google: Data Analytics = ITS - 130 Database Fundamentals, ITS 231 Database Programming, ITS - 199 Special Topics in ITS, COS-206 R Programming Google: IT Support Professional = CIS-1070 Computer Concepts and Applications, CYB-1200 Intro to cybersecurity , ITS-1400 - Intro to Networking, ITS-1600 Fundementals of Mordern Operating Systems, ITS-2610 Linux Google: Project Management - MAN- 235 Intro to Project Management, MAN-437 Project Management, MAN-438 Mastering Project Management Arizona State University CIS 194- Business Technology Fundamentals In Progress: IBM: Cybersecurity Analyst Professional I was wondering if I would be able to use these credits to create a new degree. I saw they offer an associate's degree in Computer Science and was wondering how many transfer credits will they accept into an associate's program? I already have an RA bachelor's plus tons of extra credits. https://www.tesu.edu/heavin/asnsm/computer-science I also found another program AAS in Applied Computer Studies https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/current/undergraduate-catalog/degree-programs-and-certificates/associate-in-applied-science/aas-in-applied-computer-studies/ RE: TESU ASNSM in Computer Science / AAS Applied Computer Studies - bjcheung77 - 07-24-2024 My goodness, gracious! You're amazing, that was awesome, so many credits! Anyways, here's a hidden secret that I rarely tell people, you can get the AS Computer Science and the AAS Applied Computer Studies using the same classes you take from the balanced mix/match of Coursera, Sophia.org, Study.com, TEEX, etc, as long as the classes don't overlap! AS Comp Sci Computer Science Requirements (27 Credits) - Computer Science Electives 18 - Natural Science, Computer Science, or Math Electives 9 Applied Computer Studies Requirements (21 Credits) Complete 18 credits in the Applied Computer Studies area and the 3 credit Capstone course. Now get this, you can also add the AS Math plus the AAS Environmental, Safety, and Security Technologies added to the two above (actually, I recommend, it'll be asking for these two and adding the AS Comp Sci and AAS Applied Comp Studies as second areas of study to your AS, AAS). The AS does not have a capstone, the AAS has a capstone requirement though. Last but not least, if you're getting another Bachelors, you might as well add as many certs that you can along with this... Max the ROI/Value with the cost of capstones and try to skip the residency waiver fee by taking the max of 15 credits for residency. Why thank you so much , to be honest the courses were quick and easy haha wish I knew all this stuff when I graduate high school over 10 years ago. My main question is does TESU have a transfer credit policy for associates degrees? I couldn’t find much information on this. Also since I pretty much got all the degree requirements for the associates degree I wonder if they will take all 60 credits and what fees will I have to pay if any ? I’m sure they just won’t give me a degree for free lol. I am just trying to play around with credits. I saw I can get a bachelors in health science or bachelors of professional studies with a concentration in business and management over at excelsior university pretty much almost done about 4-5 courses only needed (I could take study.com classes or take them in other colleges to meet the requirement). Eventually I was thinking of going for a bachelors in computer science and a bachelors in political science from TESU but I have so many degrees on my plate right now I have lined up. I just jumped into another doctoral program because I took a pause on my EVMS program. Also planning on applying to Jacksonville state university masters in integrated studies and another masters degree in Nutrition over at North West Missouri State University maybe in the next two or three years. In the long term I do plan on doing UMPI MAOL eventually. RE: TESU ASNSM in Computer Science / AAS Applied Computer Studies - bjcheung77 - 07-25-2024 I got your PM, to answer your question earlier... Flat Rate Term of 15 credits: $4,428 https://www.tesu.edu/tuition/flat-rate-tuition Graduation Fee: $298 https://www.tesu.edu/tuition/fees One Associates & Two Bachelors Capstones: FREE Complete the 3 capstones and two easy classes for 15 credits Note 1: For the AAS ACS & ESST, you have a capstone, all the other classes are completed as long as it 'hits' those computer classes or ESST requirements (which are a mix of general ed and elective classes, not even ESST specific) Note 2: Your other AS Computer Science/Math just requires you to take the classes that come into the degree, you need Calculus 1 if you don't have it already, everything else should be easy to complete and transfer in from what I mentioned. Recommendation: Graduate the Associates, Bachelors, and any certs you want all at once, to save on the extra graduation fee. I was considering a bachelors in political science and a bachelors in computer science and could throw in the AS in math for fun. Im trying to figure out if there is a limit to how many degrees I can take in one run. RE: TESU ASNSM in Computer Science / AAS Applied Computer Studies - bjcheung77 - 07-25-2024 2 Associates, 2 Bachelors, X certificates... So in one run I can do 2 bachelors, 2 associates, and as many certificates as long as the classes do not overlap correct? I thought it was 2 bachelor's or 2 associates per degree confirmation? Sorry I seem a bit confused although you have laid it out pretty simple. RE: TESU ASNSM in Computer Science / AAS Applied Computer Studies - jg_nuy - 07-25-2024 You can do up to 4 certs according to my son’s advisor. RE: TESU ASNSM in Computer Science / AAS Applied Computer Studies - newdegree - 07-25-2024 Yeah I am still confused lol |
