New TAMUC Competency-Based Programs? - RbxFunRocks - 06-16-2024

Earlier today, I was scrolling through the TAMUC website when I found 2 new CBE programs listed that I've never seen before:

  • Public Administration, City Planning (BAAS)
  • Human Resource Development (BAAS)
Both programs are so new, they don't even have any actual pages set up yet (their pages redirect to the main homepage).

good catch.
I guess they don't have the web pages set up for those programs yet.
I am glad they are expanding into more degree programs, they may be the right choice for a member on this forum.

That is so exciting! I do feel like TAMUC should have spent some time updating the Org Leadership program, but hopefully this means they are investing in CBE in general.

Of course they WOULD come out with a better major than Organizational Leadership AFTER I already finished ORGL. I always have the absolute worst timing in life.

Great options added, depending on the real use for these options... Maybe it's just me, I still think the OL option is best, most rounded for any type of career or position.

At least you finished, bud. That’s what matters around here and to most employers. There’s always something shinier and better down the road, but it doesn’t matter if you never finish anything.

Focus on the next step up for yourself, whether career or education, and the bachelors won’t matter in the long run. That’s always been a mantra of this board I wish I had paid more attention to. I would be a lot further along in life had I taken that advice ten or more years ago.

After a couple emails, advisors told me the Public Administration program is still waiting to be approved and won't start until Fall I of this year. No further details so far.

I just spoke with my advisor. HR Development is waiting final approval and should start in fall. Will be switching to that one myself.

Looked at the Public Admin one but still nothing as far as courses on it.

HR Development has solid courses. I posted the brochure for it

Same thing happened to me at UMPI. I graduated and my dream degree came along the next term. I went back for a second bachelor's degree. I wonder if TAMUC would allow for a second bachelor's degree?

I am actually curious about the City Planning one. I was leaning toward the HR but I'd like to see what courses the Public Admin degree covers.
