Capstones enrollment related to their area of study - AllThose299s - 06-14-2024 I was looking at LIB-4950 Liberal Arts Capstone and noticed the following: Quote:NOTE: This seems new? Previously when searching for the course, it seemed that there was no rhyme or reason behind the course numbers (June had GS002, OL009 & OL012) and the only reference was this post however June's course numbers didn't have the numbering to match the description, July's course numbers however do match it. The wording on the capstone description makes me wonder what happens if the course for your major area of study is completely filled? I've seen previous posts where people are asking for recommendations on which professor to take the capstone, for example, Matthew Badtke is the professor for LIB-4950-OL003, so if you are majoring in Computer Science, I guess that would determine who your professor would be, but what if you wanted your professor to be Augustus Black who is teaching LIB-4950-OL002? I guess we will see what happens. If the subject of your capstone isn't related to your major, then it wouldn't matter if you picked a section not related to your major. RE: Capstones enrollment related to their area of study - bjcheung77 - 06-15-2024 It's interesting how they split this up, I wonder why, as anyone can be teaching the capstone, and each person would do things differently, it shouldn't matter who you select as your capstone can be in any subject matter, even not related to the major. I would be on the safe side and just query the academic advisors if you wanted to go the LIB-4950-OL002 route, make sure it doesn't affect you in getting the BACS. RE: Capstones enrollment related to their area of study - davewill - 06-17-2024 I find it interesting, too. My professor for the capstone was an English professor. I found that much more useful than having a computer science oriented advisor would have been... or maybe this is in hopes of getting classmates that are more compatible, opening the door for group work? (Ugh!) Of course, it could be in preparation for requiring capstone papers that ARE related to the subject matter of the degree, or even for splitting the lib art capstone into three different courses in the future. RE: Capstones enrollment related to their area of study - AllThose299s - 12-17-2024 I recently completed my capstone (LIB-4950-OL003) and put in my request for graduation, as I waited for graduation audit to be completed, I noticed that the capstone courses have been updated (again!) and it appears that davewill might be psychic! The new numbers along with the grouping are as follows (as of the date of which this post was made, it can always change in the future):
