TEEX Courses with ACE Credits - colonelcamp - 05-23-2024 Hi Everyone, I'm planning on going for the UMPI BAS and as well all know, you need 40 technical credits going in, plus an AAS. I've completed some Sophia technical credits as well as the Google IT Support Pro Cert. This Google cert shows as 15 credits on one page on the degree forum wiki and as 12 credits on another. I'm going to assume it's 12, just to play it safe. If anybody can confirm this one way or the other, that would be great. I've also started working on the free TEEX courses and found some conflicting information on this forum as well as at some other locations as far as which TEEX courses provide ACE credits and, if they do, how many. I visited this page on the TEEX website and clicked on each of the 49 courses listed to verify whether or not they provide ACE credits and if they do, how many. https://teex.org/program/cybersecurity/ . As of this posting, this is what it is: AWR138 Network Assurance - 2 credits AWR139 Digital Forensics Basics - 2 credits AWR168 Foundations of Cyber Crime - 2 credits AWR169 Introduction to Cyber Incident Management - 1 credits AWR173 Information Security Basics - 2 credits AWR174 Cyber Ethics - 2 credits AWR176 Disaster Recovery for Information Systems - 2 credits. I can confirm that the first 4 on the list do show up on Credly as the amomunt of credits shown. I finished those and got the TEEX staff to transfer them to my Credly account. Also, I previously found some info that the below courses provide ACE credits. According to the same link I checked, they do not. Maybe they did before, but as of this writing, nope. AWR395 Cybersecurity in the Workplace - 1 credit AWR396 Network Security for Homes and Small Businesses - 1 credit AWR398 Introduction to Information Sharing and Analysis Organizations - 1 credit AWR399 Detecting and Responding to a Cyber Attack - 1 credit I'm not sure if there are any other TEEX courses that provide ACE credits outside of what's on this list from the link I checked, but if there are, please let me know. As far as my situation, with everything on this list, I can get to 39. I need 1 more stinking credit and I'm done with Sohpia courses and oogle certs. Are there any other sources of technical credits? Free or not. I really hope the Google cert I completed is 15 credits. Hope this helps. Thx! AWR177 0145 Information Risk Management- 2 cr AWR178 0145 Secure Software- 2 cr Info Systems AoE Requirements - colonelcamp - 05-28-2024 Hi Everyone, I had the following on my Credly transcript that I sent over to Pierpont: Introduction to Information Technology - 3 credits Introduction to Web Development - 3 credits Network Assurance (AWR138) - 2 credits Digital Forensics Basics (AWR-139-W) - 2 credits Foundations of Cyber Crimes (AWR-168-W) - 2 credits Introduction to Relational Databases - 3 credits Introduction to Cyber Incident Management (AWR169) - 1 credit 16 total ACE credits I was then advised that I didn't have enough credits for Info Systems notation. I then had Coursera transfer my Google IT Support Professional certificate to Credly and now I have the following: Google IT Support Professional - 5 credits Introduction to Information Technology - 3 credits Introduction to Web Development - 3 credits Introduction to Relational Databases - 3 credits TEEX Network Assurance (AWR138) - 2 credits TEEX Digital Forensics Basics (AWR-139-W) - 2 credits TEEX Foundations of Cyber Crimes (AWR-168-W) - 2 credits TEEX Introduction to Cyber Incident Management (AWR169) - 1 credit 21 total ACE credits I was under the impression based on this Wiki BOG AoE, that I only need 15 technical credits? Do any of the above courses and credits not meet these requirements? What am I missing??? RE: Info Systems AoE Requirements - bjcheung77 - 05-28-2024 Hmm, I think they're referring to 'enough' credits as in, graded credits, you need 1 graded credit. Do you have the $25 ASU 1 credit class completed? Do you have the $25 ASU 1 credit class completed? The exact quote: "I do not see enough credits for an INFO SYSTEMS notation." I have 4 credits from my county community college (4 total: 3 Eng 101 and 1 College Readiness). That transcript was sent over along with my credly transcript when I applied. RE: Info Systems AoE Requirements - bjcheung77 - 05-28-2024 Basically, I would reply back to Lisa and Nancy, or whoever mentioned that to you (and cc Lisa & Nancy) and indicate to them that you should have the 15 credits required for the area of emphasis and have them please review your credits to verify if these credits will fit the area or not. I got that from Nancy. Let's see what happens. She said I had enough for an AoE in Business, but that's obviously not the one I want. If worse comes to worst, could I still do the BAS at UMPI with an AAS with an AoE in Business? RE: Info Systems AoE Requirements - bjcheung77 - 05-28-2024 Yeah, you can. Many have the AOE in Business as they want the BAS to be MIS, PM, etc and they're all mainly related to Business over IT. This streamlines the process and also it shows laddering from Associates with a focus in Business to a Bachelors with a similar focus. You just need the 40+ technical credits and you're golden... Thx BJ. Then all is not lost. Not yet anyways. Another question. I found on this site that the Google cert I completed comes in to UMPI as 12 credits, but the credly transcript says it's 5 ACE credits. UMPI considers that 12 credits despite what the credly transcript says? RE: Info Systems AoE Requirements - bjcheung77 - 05-28-2024 Yes, UMPI takes it as ACE's face value, all the certs will come in as X credits. However... Having said that, UMPI will give you credit for classes that correspond to their classes, they're not going to give you 15 credits for 1 class, it'll be just 3. The other remaining credits will be placed into your electives if you have space, otherwise, it'll all go 'under' the 'other credits' area of the academic degree evaluation - this is the case for other institutions as well, such as TESU, Excelsior, etc. RE: Info Systems AoE Requirements - colonelcamp - 05-28-2024 (05-28-2024, 03:11 PM)bjcheung77 Wrote: Yes, UMPI takes it as ACE's face value, all the certs will come in as X credits. I have 9 other TEEX courses that I have to bring into credly, but I have no idea how many credits those will bring in. I’ll find out soon enough. I applied on Friday for the September session and expect (hope) to hear from UMPI soon. |
