Where should I get my accounting degree? - mt_1994 - 04-24-2024 I graduated last year with my degree in Computer Science from Thomas Edison University. I have decided to go back to school and get my bachelor's in accounting. What is the best route to take. Should I go back to TESU or maybe try UMPI. Any other choices? I want the most affordable route. RE: Where should I get my accounting degree? - bjcheung77 - 04-24-2024 Great post, one critical piece of information is missing, I can 'hear' the suspense in this one... And that's where you'll be swayed to either go, or stay with TESU. That question is... oh wait minute, let's check out this thread of yours first as review... https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-16-Credit-Term-Plan-what-do-you-think Back to the question at hand (drum roll), did you... or did you not... do the residency credits at TESU? Did you do, or did you not do those residency credits, is the question baby... Here's my answer from last week: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-TESU-Exploring-Degree-Options-with-Tuition-Assistance RE: Where should I get my accounting degree? - mt_1994 - 04-24-2024 (04-24-2024, 12:20 PM)bjcheung77 Wrote: Great post, one critical piece of information is missing, I can 'hear' the suspense in this one... I ended up paying the fee. How much of a difference would it be in cost from TESU to UMPI? Also how is UMPI different than TESU. I loved that I took majority of my classes at study.com or sophia.org for TESU. I have no knowledge of UMPI. RE: Where should I get my accounting degree? - davewill - 04-24-2024 If you don't mind paying the tuition waiver again, then TESU will allow you to maximize your use of ACE credit for the second degree. UMPI is going to need 30 credits done at UMPI, so you would be doing pretty much all the new credits there. That said, people seem to be able to do UMPI courses fairly quickly, and the cost would be less. It comes down to what you prefer. RE: Where should I get my accounting degree? - ss20ts - 04-24-2024 2 terms at UMPI is $3,000. You'd also complete 30 RA credits. Are you planning on going for your CPA in the future? RE: Where should I get my accounting degree? - bjcheung77 - 04-24-2024 Do you have tuition assistance or reimbursement? It really depends on the state you're in, as I don't recall you doing an addendum or template with the info, you're going to be swayed once again. You can probably do UMPI BA Accounting or BABA Accounting plus the 3 classes that go towards the MAOL for residency. Have you looked at WGU MS Accounting instead of another Bachelors? As mentioned by davewill, it really depends on which way you want to go, 30 residency credits at UMPI, 15 residency credits at TESU, or paying the capstone plus residency waiver at TESU. You get a discount if you're in NJ for the capstone and the flat rate residency vs other states... Are you planning for a CPA or just getting the Accounting degree to get into the field? I do not have tuition assistance. Possibly I can try for financial aid again. I'm from Illinois. I don't like WGU and their proctored exams. I would like to have to option of getting the CPA in the future. I'm still undecided about it. Not super important but it would be cool to have the option. How long are 2 terms? would that be very doable? I would like to have the option to get a CPA in the future. Terms are 8 weeks long. 2 terms is definitely doable for most people on here to complete 30 credits. If you want the option to get your CPA in the future, definitely look into your state requirements. Some are VERY specific and require RA credits only and have a list of required RA courses. Some states even require ACBSP accreditation. RE: Where should I get my accounting degree? - natshar - 04-24-2024 what made you want to do CS and now pivot to accounting? When you just recently got the CS degree and now are switching. If you are young, maybe think about what you actually want to do and if you need another degree before you ahead and enroll in school again. RE: Where should I get my accounting degree? - Pats20 - 04-24-2024 My vote is for TESU. You already know the system. |
