Finish Degree for CFP Marks - Cfp417 - 04-23-2024
Hi, I’m a financial advisor that just recently passed the CFP exam. One of the requirements is a college degree. I’m needing help seeing what will be the quickest route in getting this done. I work 25-35 hours a week but can make time to finish this degree. I dropped out of college after getting 114 hours. Wasn’t the smartest thing at the time but worked out. I run a successful practice and have the funds to finish.

Actually, having said that, by quickly looking at your credits, you may want to do the UMPI BLS with a minor or two of your choice, plus add the 3-4 classes that can transfer into the UMPI MAOL later, if you decide to go for a Masters.

Budget: No real concern here. Cheapest is always great, but Fastest would be better.
Commitments: Married with Kids. Work 25-30 hours per week. I recently finished the CFP exam so I’m used to studying 3+ hours per day.
Timeline: ASAP. I have technically 5 years, but I’d like to be done.
I’m honestly looking to just graduate and be able to use the CFP in my practice.

That's great, UMPI BLS with a minor and the 3-4 classes towards the MAOL would work for you, the BLS I would recommend over the BABA with a concentration because you can transfer more credits into the electives and you're not fussy on the degree choice. Just apply to UMPI, transfer your credits, wait for an evaluation to see where you stand.

Apply to UMPI, send all your transcripts to them. You're missing a language, take that at Sophia.org and be done within the month membership. Send that to UMPI as well, wait for your session to start. Use all your time to finish it in 1 session for $1500 flat... You'll be done before Sept 1.
