New Data Analytics Programs - ss20ts - 04-17-2024 Amberton University announced today 2 new programs in Data Analytics: Master of Science https://amberton.edu/degree-programs/master-of-science-data-analytics/ Graduate Data Analytics Certificate https://amberton.edu/degree-programs/certification-data-analytics-graduate/ Yes you can complete the certificate and then go onto the MS. Tuition is $300 per credit. All of their degrees (except the counseling degrees) can be completed online. Your diploma says nothing about online neither do the transcripts. There is a physical campus in Texas. I share this info for those looking for a program that's online but doesn't scream online like colleges with global in the name. One thing I like about Amberton is that you can see the course syllabus before you register for a class so you have an idea of what work is in store for you. You'll also know what textbooks are required so you can budget for them and find them. You can order them through the college bookstore - I never have. I always source mine through Amazon either used, rent, or Kindle.....whichever is cheapest. Amberton is a Christian university. However, it's not like Liberty or Charleston Southern University where religion is in the courses. There's 1 class which has religion and it's the ethics course everyone is required to take in the business programs. There are 2 sections of the ethics course every term - one faith based and one not. You'll have some students and professors wishing you a blessed day but that's all I've encountered. RE: New Data Analytics Programs - spohara - 04-17-2024 Because it is school of business - I wonder how well the ASU certificate program would transfer in. If you could transfer 12/15 credits, that would make for an extraordinarily cheap route to a master's degree. You're capped at transferring in 12 credits in the grad programs at Amberton which is really generous as many grad programs don't accept transfer credit. The courses have to be identical to courses at Amberton. They may fall under the Business Administration electives. None of the courses in the program appear to be the same courses taught at Amberton. https://amberton.edu/applying-to-amberton/graduate-transfer-info/ I did transfer in grad credit from another grad program. The 2 courses were the same though. I had to provide the syllabus and some of my assignments. They weren't free credits from a program like the ASU program. I wonder if anyone has graduated from that program yet. Feels like it has gone on for years. In this degree they wouldn't necessarily have to be identical to Amberton courses. but they would have to align with what they consider appropriate to fill in those Business Admin Electives (9 credits there for courses prefixes: ACC, BUS, ECO, FIN, MGT, MKT); they must be worth 3 credits each (not more/less). I also transferred in 12 credits (4 courses) from outside grad programs - only 1 course transferred as a perfect match to an Amberton offering. With that said, it does seem that at least some of the courses in the ASU free program would align to cover the elective subject areas. Of course can't be sure until someone tries. I hope someone who has some/all of the free ASU certificate courses does apply and reports back if they get used to cover anything within this exciting new graduate degree option. I'll add that I have nothing but good things to say about my own Amberton experience. RE: New Data Analytics Programs - bluebooger - 04-17-2024 The prerequisite to the MS/DA program is a bachelor's degree in business; otherwise, the student must have taken the following course or its equivalent: BUS3310 Competitive Business Analysis 3 hours RE: New Data Analytics Programs - ss20ts - 04-17-2024 (04-17-2024, 04:41 PM)bluebooger Wrote: The prerequisite to the MS/DA program is a bachelor's degree in business; otherwise, the student must have taken the following course or its equivalent: BUS3310 is offered in the Summer and Winter terms. It's also $300 per credit. Many people on here had degrees in business so it's not a problem for them. RE: New Data Analytics Programs - bjcheung77 - 04-17-2024 That's a pretty good option, to get a grad cert half way through the program just in case something comes up in life and then continue when you've got that something completed. If you're not critical of the name, such as those looking for Data Analytics vs Data Science, this is another option to put on your short list or even as a backup choice... RE: New Data Analytics Programs - Vle045 - 04-18-2024 This is a very good option. It brings in another possibility that is close in price to Eastern. This is something I have considered doing at some point in the future, but since I just discovered I now have free access to career academy on Coursera, I might do the data analysis certificates there and see if that satisfies my needs. I paid $35 in fees this term - $10 for the program fee and $25 for the tech fee. That's it. All colleges have fees and many students don't pay all of them. |
