LLB degree for Australia - Atoshi - 04-11-2024 Hello knowledgeable people, I got my B.Sc. in liberal arts from Excelsior. I moved to Australia as a PR after my marriage. I always dreamed of being a lawyer but couldn’t do it due to financial issues. I used to live in south-east Asia. Anyway, I would like to start my law journey if possible. I have checked, and the price of a law degree in Australia is not within my budget. I can’t apply for government loans yet. I have noticed I can do levels 4 and 5 in law and then transfer credits for the final year of law in the UK. I am looking for an affordable option. If anyone has information on the most affordable way to get an LLB from the UK, that would be very helpful. Not the fastest. But could be the cheapest. You need to enquire further.. RE: LLB degree for Australia - bjcheung77 - 04-11-2024 Here's an option too, it's a little different, you're getting a grad cert (like a bridge program) then do a 2 year LLB top up. Just to confirm is the above linked program a top up program or grad cert bridging program? If it’s the first one, I would have to do the grad cert from somewhere else? You may want to review the other threads on Unicaf, is there something in particular you're looking at about Unicaf? It's an in-between-program, so, that means you can technically be GDL or starting your GDL, you then just do a 2 year LLB right afterwards. Again, I believe this is a bridge program to get people interested in LLB and have the correct prerequisites to get into the GDL/LLB. If you’re considering a first law degree from a country outside of Australia, the first step is to find out what foreign legal training, if any, does Australia recognize. Take the UK for an example, unless you’ve passed the bar and have significant practice experience, the foreign qualification route isn’t even an option. Personally, I know a lawyer barred in Australia who is currently taking conversion courses just to get double qualified in the UK. RE: LLB degree for Australia - bjcheung77 - 04-22-2024 These two seem interesting, one seems online and the other butt in seat: 1) https://www.bbk.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/law-graduate-diploma/#fees 2) https://www.londonmet.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/graduate-diploma-in-law---gdl/ |
