Excelsior "Non applicable courses and Exams" - jorai - 07-19-2008

I am about to faint... I had 6 credits pending in "Social Science electives", and to meet this requirement, I decided to take the next DANTES tests, 2 weeks ago:

DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE, 60
FUNDAMENTALS OF COUNSELING, 55

Now, I just noticed these 2 tests are showing in my Evaluation Summary as "Non applicable courses and exams"

I hope this is a mistake, but I can't wait for Monday to come and find out what is this!

And I still have this in my Evaluation Summary as needed:

- at least 6.00 credits in social sciences electives

Any idea? Last time I checked these 2 tests are "Social Science"! Am I missing any information?

Looking at the Student Guide and Assessment Catalog from EC, I see Drug & Alcohol in the "Applied Professional" category. Fundamentals of Counseling is listed under Social Sciences and History as "Counseling, Fundamentals of" so it seems like you should be able to get that one. I'm not enrolled yet, so I have to defer to another with more experience as to whether they negotiate these things. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I just noticed that Cool , when I decided to take them I looked on the options for the dsst fact sheets and they are listed as Social Science. It did not go through my mind to have a look also at the Ece Guide...

But yes, looking at that, Fundamentals of Counseling should count and is still in "Non Applicable Courses and Exams." I will see what they tell me about that one on Monday...

But anyways, I still need to meet the Ethics requirement, I will take Dsst Ethics when I get ready for the ECE one and so cover those 3 if Drug and Alcohol abuse does not count as Social Science.

**Edited: oops, Ethics is listed as Humanities!

Thanks again!

I have some of my classes and Tests listed as GED? And not applicable either. But it may be that they have no idea what they are college wise, But I have all my classes filled in for those areas as being completed?

Ouch.
Well, I hope you get the credit. I know for TESC it is the reverse, we can use the drug test for social science, but the counsling test is human services, not social science. Bummer. Sad

They said it was a mistake... They applied the P. of Counseling to SC and D. and A. to Electives... I need 3 Social Science yet...

Not that bad. Thanks again!
