IâM A LORD! ...and a graduate, too - barcotta - 07-18-2008 Iâm proud to announce that I have been given the honorary title of âLordâ by the InstantCert Academy (see new icon above). Iâd like to thank God, the Academy and all who have helped along the way. A cursory check through the IC records reveals a fairly small number of Lords, and I am honored to join this exclusive and elite group. Today also marks my graduation from Excelsior College with a Bachelor of Science in General Business, cum laude. While there are many more EC grads than there are IC Lords, I am nonetheless equally proud of this achievement! I would like to thank Steve Gloer for creating IC and, subsequently, this forum. I applaud his simple but effective flashcard method and, most of all, his beyond-fair pricing. For those of you who havenât yet seen the wildly overpriced and overblown competition, please do yourself a favor and start here. You can already read the forum. Pay $20 and check out some cards and take a test. Heâll give you your $20 back if you donât like it so you have nothing to lose. Iâd like to see one person try this and then choose to pay $189 per subject to iStudySmart or any of those others. Iâd also like to thank my good buddy Kiwi Lover who stepped in just when I needed her a few timesâall on her ownâand helped me over some of the more challenging hurdles. Iâd like thank Snazzlefrag, with whom I rarely corresponded, for leaving an enviable trail of bread crumbs for the rest of us to follow. I tried to fill in some of the few spaces he left and I strongly encourage everyone reading this to contribute to this forum with meaningful feedback. Everyone is most interested in the most current feedback availableâwhich means the clock is already ticking on everything I left, so it is up to YOU to keep this forum relevant. Even if you confirm existing feedbackâat least youâve marked a moment in time to which others may refer. I didnât set any land speed records in achieving my degree. It took me 14 months from the first to last test to amass 120 credits. I had an 18 credit head start and used a combination of testing, on-line courses, hybrid courses and credit-by-exam at my local community college. In truth, I probably could have completed my degree even faster if I had focused on testing aloneâbut Iâm happy with the array I chose and the time that it took. From here I plan to refocus my efforts on my family and job. I donât plan to pursue a Masters until I know more about what I would do with itâand find someone else to pay for it! One thing I learned in pursuing a business degree is that I donât much care for business. So, weâll see what the future holds, but for now my only educational goal is to learn to speak Spanish. Well, tomorrowâs my birthday so Iâm going to spend some time with my family and enjoy my new titleâand degree. Sincerely, Lord Barcotta IâM A LORD! ...and a graduate, too - dc67 - 07-18-2008 Congratulations!!!!!!!! It is all well deserved. Enjoy the break. IâM A LORD! ...and a graduate, too - alleycat - 07-19-2008 Happy Birthday, Happy Graduation, and Happy Lording! Great Job and 18 months really is not that long, and I hope you stay around. IâM A LORD! ...and a graduate, too - jadechow - 07-19-2008 What time are we having birthday/congratulatory cake? A series of events as large in scale as those 3 deserve some cake! Congratulations, Lord Barcotta. Sounds a little like a D&D handle or something. Very powerful. Maybe since it's your birthday, as a present, you could have the family refer to you as Lord all day. Personally, I think the amount of time it took you to finish is inspiring. For those of us juggling family, working, breathing, etc., I would think that is a timeframe to aspire to not explain. You done good, Lord Barcotta. Please stay with us or at least pop in every now and then. You have left breadcrumbs as well, you know, and I for one am trying to follow them. Best to you and family. Happy Birthday! Kelly IâM A LORD! ...and a graduate, too - newtoclep - 07-19-2008 Congratulations on all your accomplishments. Finishing your degree in 14 months is no small feat when you are only starting with 18 credits. You are an inspiration. IâM A LORD! ...and a graduate, too - sgloer - 07-19-2008 Excellent work Lord Barcotta--you've been an invaluable member of this board and I'm sure I'm far from the only person who'd love to continue to see you around on here. Also, in regards to your goal with learning Spanish, we might be offering something that can help you with that goal--completely off the record unofficial release date is New Years 2009, so stay tuned! |
