UMPI - Change Professor - considerationsea2938 - 01-22-2024

Is it possible to change professors in a course? My current professor is said to take a long time grading compared to the other professor. Thank you.

There is only 1 professor for most courses. How long have you been waiting for grading? Which course?

It's best to speak with your academic advisor and see what your options are, if there is just one professor, then you need to bite the bullet and continue working on those classes. I think it'll be a waste of time trying to change professors at the moment, you need to provide more details to questions asked for by ss20ts...

Thanks for your response. The course is internatonal relations. I have not turned in any milestones, however i’ve heard from others that he takes the full 3 days to grade, which for an already long course, is not something I can afford. Meanwhile, the other professor takes a day to grade.

Thanks for you response. So, if there is a second professor available and i have not turned in any milestones, there is a possibilty to change?

I don't think you're going to be able to change who your professor is. I know students have requested certain professors and they're not given a choice. They're given whoever has room in their course at that moment. You haven't even done the Milestones yet so I wouldn't worry about the 3 days. You're going to find that there are professors who take the 3 full days. You will just have to work with it. Sometimes in life, we have to deal with what we're given. At work, if you're placed on a team that you don't want to be on, you have to be an adult and deal with it. Life isn't always easy.

I had the same prof. Hes fine and grades by the 3 days per the requirement. Stop being weird about it and chill. There is only one option because Dr Z needed a break after everyone flooded his courses. It used to be a Dr Z class.

Can't you request that a new class be opened after you turn in the final draft?

Students on Reddit report that UMPI lets you have up to 4 classes open at once if you just ask.

I suggest opening a new class after you turn in the draft.

Be careful towards the end of the term since everything must be done, or else you earn an F.

Thanks for the kind response. I am a new student, this is my first term and I didn’t know this information before. Thanks for the advice.

Typically you're only allowed 2 courses unless you've submitted final drafts and are waiting for grading.

Do as much as you can with the classes, once done with the class, have another one open while waiting for grading if that is possible... I wouldn't wait another session just to get it with another professor.
