Need 300/400 level credits? - tomheany - 12-07-2023 I started with credits for my military training and a few community college classes, but have set up to fullfill all but the required 10 courses from UMPI. I've utilized CLEP and DSST to meet these requirements. It's the upper level courses that created the bigget challenge for me. There are two 300 level CLEP tests. TDSST offers more, potentially, as the student has to ensure what the school will accept. UMPI just started accepting DSST. I did research to see what schools accepted what tests and at what level and have attached a table below: DSST Test Institution Level Credits Notes Money & Banking 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11,14 300/400 or UL 3 Lifespan Dev Psych 1, 5, 8, 9 300/UL 3 Fundamentals Of Counseling 1, 3, 8, 12 300/UL 3 Management Info Systems 2, 4 300 3 Organizational Behavior 2, 4, 5, 10, 12, 15 300 3 Princ of Finance 2, 5, 6, 10,11,15 300 3 Princ of Supervision 2,10, 13,15 300 3 Human Resources Mgt 4, 5, 6, 10, 14, 15 300 3 Substance Abuse 4, 7, 11, BUS 3XX 300 3 Business Law II 6, 10, 14 300/UL 3 Intro to World Religions 6, 11 300 3 Technical Writing 6, 12 300 3 Civil War & Reconstruction 7, 15 300/400 3 History Vietnam War 7, 15 300/400 3 Intro Modern Middle East 7 300 3 West Europe since 1945 7 300 3 Princ of Public Speaking 8, 9, 11, 14 300/UL 3 Human/Cultural Geography 10 300 3 Business Ethics & Society 13 400 3 1. That's something I've not heard of before. CLEP is supposed to be 1st/2nd year exams. TESU specific, but approximately how I've always seen them at other universities: https://iq3prod1.smartcatalogiq.com/Catalogs/Thomas-Edison-State-University/Current/Undergraduate-Catalog/Methods-of-Learning-and-Earning-Credit/Exam-Programs/CLEP-College-Level-Examination-Program/Listing-of-CLEP-Exams TESU also only counts 1 DSST exam as UL as of right now: https://iq3prod1.smartcatalogiq.com/Catalogs/Thomas-Edison-State-University/Current/Undergraduate-Catalog/Methods-of-Learning-and-Earning-Credit/Exam-Programs/DSST-Exams/Listing-of-DSST-Exams While each college/university is different, TESU tends to go with the credit recommendations for a given exam/course (most of the time). So the ones that offer UL for DSSTs or CLEPs are going to be the outliers. If you want UL credit, it's available from Saylor, Study.com, Davar (only if your institution accepts NCCRS credits), ASU and others. RE: Need 300/400 level credits? - bjcheung77 - 01-04-2024 The threads actually for UMPI... Anyways, similarly, you want to review what's available on Sophia, Study.com, or whatever provider you want to use, CLEP and DSST or other providers should also be listed on the UMPI webpage... OP, have you applied to UMPI, got accepted, and got an evaluation? Have you also checked with their website or your assigned academic advisor for possible transfer options to the upper level requirements? RE: Need 300/400 level credits? - reen967 - 01-16-2024 There are 58 UL courses that transfer to UMPI on here. https://letmegraduate.softr.app/ It's still a work in progress but hope it helps a bit. Btw, do you know where I can find the UMPI x DSST information? Would be great to be able to add it into the database! RE: Need 300/400 level credits? - bjcheung77 - 01-16-2024 Haven't used softr.io yet, but that seems like an interesting freebie site for custom apps or sharing databases, there are a few out there... |
