Getting to a one year bachelors degree without CLEP - Bosnian_Slovenian - 11-05-2023
Hello!
I live in Slovenia. I have access to a Pearson VUE test center, I think I can take courses on study.com and similar websites since they are online, but I can't take CLEP exams. Is graduating in a year possible? The most practical university in this case would probably be WGU, but since they sadly don't accept international students, Excelsior seems like the best option. So, would doing this thru Excelsior be possible without CLEP? Are there any better universities for me? At the time of applying I won't have any work experience and will be below the age of 18.

EDIT: I plan on majoring in either CS, electrical engineering or management but any STEM degree will do tbh.

@OP... Welcome to the board, you've got a very good introduction post with 'some' details that we look for, having said that, you're missing the bulk of the addendum/template. I live in Slovenia (the city doesn't matter, It's a small country)
Your Age: ... 14... I know, probably thinking about this a bit too early, I know, please don't judge.
What kind of degree do you want?: CS, EE or business would be preferred, any STEM degree would do
Current Regional Accredited Credits: No university credits of any kind.
Budget: Around 15k max, willing to grind at the local McDonald's.
Commitments: Would have to work on studying for the matura exams while gathering credits.
Dedicated time to study: I can wake up early (5am) and I have time during the weekend and the holidays. Currently have discipline issues, I need to fix that while still in middle school.
Timeline: 12 months
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: pretty much N/A
The reason I'm thinking about this right now is because I found a way to finish high school in one year, so I might as well figure out how to finish uni in one year too. I hope this is helpful!

Unfortunately, none of the schools you're talking about will let someone less than 18 enroll. You could certainly get all of the alt credit together and be ready to finish in less than a year once you are old enough. Perhaps someone will be able to come up with a school that will let you enroll.

I recommend TESU's CS program. They do accept international students. Also, you can transfer lots of ACE credits to TESU.
If you can't take CLEP, then try TESU's TECEP exams.

According to the wiki, both Excelsior and Charter Oak have a minimum age requirement of 16. I will be 16 when I will finish high school so age won't be a problem.

Found this on Excelsiors website. I could get to 19 credits by just following this PDF, and I would only need study.com. Should I do this?

Okay, so, both COSC and Excelsior are pretty bad options for students these days. Excelsior has a lot of hidden fees now and students are reporting that they're not as transfer friendly as they used to be. COSC is even worse. It is literally impossible to get a COSC degree quickly and cheaply from scratch anymore.
Are you a Bosnian who lives in Slovenia or do you have a Slovenian passport?
Metropolia might be a good choice for you. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Metropolia_University_of_Applied_Sciences It is possible to get an entire Metropolia degree for only about 600€ if you have a Slovenian (EU) passport. If you only have a Bosnian passport, your costs would be about 10600€. The 600€ portion can be completed as quickly as you're able to. The remaining 1/4 of the degree would take about a year to complete. As far as I can tell, they have no minimum age requirements. I have a Slovenian passport, thank you bro. Will look into this. However I don't know any Finish so I hope knowing just English will be fine. Also seems more reputable and since It's under the bologna system (I'm guessing) so it will be easier to get into a masters program in my home country.
EDIT: Bachelors degrees in my home country are 180ects, just like the 600 eur part, so I will maybe only need to complete this.
