Problem with outlook email - Avidreader - 09-19-2023

For over 30 years, I have always had a very poor experience with Outlook, so it will be hard to make me ever like it. I am seeing if my Pierpont Outlook email works at all and send emails to myself and nothing arrives anywhere but there are zero mailing errors either. Do Outlook emails normally take an hour? A day to arrive? Or does one have to send 20 Outlook emails and hope 1 arrives to its destination?
Am I just very unlucky the product never works?

Or is this a problem for everyone and everyone is used to sending 20 emails everywhere and hope for the best?

They should arrive instantly, more or less. I've never had any emails take longer than maybe 3 minutes to get somewhere, unless the internet itself was badly broken.

Is there a web interface? Are you using that?

Outlook is mainly on the cloud, they're moving everyone to the Outlook 365 platform... So, essentially, you should get the email right away, have you tried test sending an email to yourself... Someone with a Pierpont email should try and see, report back...

12 hours after sending emails to myself amd nothing, zilch, nada. Zero error messages, but the emails vanish and never appear anywhere. I did the same this morning with a different email, nothing, zilch, nada.

So, pretty much my Pierpont email is essentially useless and I have no way to contact anyone unless I call on the phone. Ughhh

How are you sending the emails? Are you using an email client on your computer? The web mail interface? Saying "there are no errors" sounds like you're doing it over SMTP/POP3/IMAP. If that's what you're doing, don't. Use the web interface. It's quite possible that they've configured the server to not send email remotely if you're not connected to a Pierpont campus connection. I know someone with a free email account that is exactly like that: they can use whatever client they want to receive, but not send, if they're roaming. If they are at home and connected to that specific ISP, they can both send and receive. If they want to send an email while roaming, they must sign into the web interface.

That might be my problem and the reason why the emails are floating around doing nothing. Is there a user friendly wiki with screenshots that show step by step where and how to click the correct Pierpont email button? I can't find anything on my dashboard. Wither I am the most clueless person or it is hiding in some super teeny tiny spot that somehow everyone except me knows where it is.

I test sent myself an email... it worked fine, there is something wrong on your end... Just a reminder that your Pierpont email account is your Username@student.pierpont.edu.

Be aware when logging directly into some Pierpont services you may be required to use your Pierpont email as the user identification, such as Office 365, while others may require only your Username, such as the Pierpont Portal.

Are there snapshots where you click the right button? I tend to need baby steps to know which is the button that had to be clicked and where. I have no idea where the correct email button is. The issue most certainly not that I am unknowing of my pierpont student address. It is where in the dashboard is the correct email button.

Please check your sent items and see if there is anything in there... if nothing shows, you've not sent anything out yet, thus, nothing can come into it either if you've test sent an email to yourself...  You may want to send a screenshot of your sent box or something to show us what is happening, the email address may have been typed incorrectly each and every time.

It's pretty straight forward, in outlook, on the upper left, you click New Mail.  Type email address into the To: field.  Enter a subject and type in something within the body of the email.  Lastly, click Send and you should have sent that message.  To verify, you click the Sent and you should see the date/time stamp it was sent.  Here's a screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/0QHRQBP.jpg

Notice I have an email unread in the Inbox, that was my initial test to myself.  This is an addition test message and I am viewing the drafts, I haven't sent the email.  You should click onto sent items and see if there are any sent emails and verify the email addresses are typed correctly.

Uhhhhh i am so lost.

I really need baby steps bacwards backwards.

I clicked a dozen differebt buttons all over the place and found an email thingy. It is really unstable and outlook wants me to download some horrible administrator app that looks like something that can ruin my computer and fill it with endless password firewalls. For now I could look at my pierpont email but who knows for how long or if windows will be blinking every 2 minutes demanding me to triple auethenticate it with apps and more windows apps that will risk locking me out of my computer
