Need help planning my Excelsior courses/exams - peace123 - 07-04-2008 Hi all , ![]() Between the time I received my unofficial review in April and the time I enrolled( last week )with Excelsior I completed two new classes one a 4 credit Lower level applied profession and the other a 4 credit Upper level Applied professional both in accounting subjects. I am still awaiting my official review and I figure that should be completed before the end of August. In the mean time I have enrolled in their Information Literacy class and will complete it this summer. This will count as an applied professional Lower level. After that I would like to enroll in their Prior Learning class as I am considering trying for some credits via the portfolio route. The only drawback is that class is counted a lower level Applied Professional and I do not believe I need anymore of them (unless for some reason they do not accept my new accounting class). Also I need to complete 12 credits of Excelsior classes since I enrolled under one of their Partnership Programs. With all this in mind any ideas on the fastest way to complete my degree in BS_ Liberal studies would be appreciated. Please note : I recently joined IC so I would want to lean toward Upper level tests that they have material available for. I am also looking for information on ECâs Religions of the World exam. Has any one here taken it? If yes, did you have a back ground in this area prior to taking it? Studying religions is one of my passions so I thought this exam might work for me but i am not sure about how they grade writing exams. Do they care more about the content and ideas or about grammar, spelling, sentence structure, etc. Thanks, Peace Below is my unofficial evaluation: Listed below are the requirements you still need to complete: General Education (Arts & Sciences Requirement) 4.00 semester hours at the lower level PLUS 21.00 semester hours at the upper level Humanities Requirement To complete this requirement, you need a minimum of 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours in one of the following disciplines:art, music, literature, foreign languages, philosophy, religion, speech, ethics, or advanced writing. Depth Requirements A depth in the Arts & Sciences A second depth in any academic area, including applied professional/electives AND Applied Professional Credit or Additional Arts & Sciences 5.00 semester hours lower level in any academic area 9.00 semester hours upper level in any academic area Information Literacy Requirement Need help planning my Excelsior courses/exams - bat21 - 07-04-2008 You may want to look over the current catalog and verify how many eces you can apply towards your core classes in accounting, since you need to take 12 units, you opt to take the cd rom courses, which you can finish early. Just a note to remember, ECEs will not count towards the 12 units for residency, like the military program option 1. I am in the same boat, I can use only 2 ece exams on my Major, and have to take classes for everything else. I may just take 3 to4 more classes with EC in lower division level to bump up my GPA and Military option 1 . As I sit right now with them, I need the (1) unit essay class and the (3) unit social research class and I am finished. |
