OK Team,

I just jumped in with both feet. I finally paid for my app at TESC. I'm going for the Emergency Disaster Management Bachelor's. As I understand, they take quite a while for the evaluation. So, I will be banging out several tests in the meantime.

I have attached a copy of MY degree plan. Any feedback will be helpful.

One specific question I have is do the NFA credits lump together with the FEMA credits to make the 25 (Emergency Management only)credit limit?

Also, Criminal Justice(CJS100) & Business Law(BL201), how will they be classified?

OK, last one, Financial Aid. I also understand that they are notoriously slow on this front. Will I have to pay the enrollment fee out of pocket? Or will they let it ride until the paperwork goes through?

Thanks a million. You guys have been a beacon of light for me, I will try and do the same for others.

I can now say I am a TESC graduate, (My AA was aproved yesterday).

Have you tried the unofficial TESC website
UNOFFICIAL THOMAS A. EDISON STATE COLLEGE - Login
free to join and some very well informed and helpful people there also easily searchable.

I don't remember how long it took to have my transcript evaluated, but I do remember one of my transcripts got lost so I would give them a maximum of two weeks then call to check on the progress. I have found them very responsive to my calls.

I don't know about the other things, but if your FAFSA indicates that you should receive financial aid, you will not be required to pay anything up front. If you will attend multiple semesters they will deduct the tuition from your aid until either you get a refund or owe a balance.

I perused your degree plan and it looks pretty good. I have to say that I am not happy about the fact that you have more credits than mehilarious !!!!!!

I am not certain about the questions that you raised though. Sorry I can't be of more assistance. Some questions that you need answered, I need answered also!

However, I would just wait until you receive your "unofficial" evaluation. I received mine in less than a month. As far as FEMA goes...as soon as you fax the transcript request form to them, they will send it to TESC the same or very next day. As far as your other college credits go...I would send them to TESC by Certified Mail. That way there won't be any issue about them having not received them.

Hope everything works out for you and welcome to the TESC club!!!

***TAKE THAT EXCELSIOR***hilarious hilarious hilarious !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace be with you always.

From a loyal degree seeker,

Marshall

As far as your eval goes, once you get it, you'll have a good idea where they put what- and once you register you'll have access to real advising. My only ?? are if they will count DSST Drugs as upper level sociology. In my major (not the same) it is considered social science. (SOS vs SOC) so that might be something you'll have to sub out- but then again, every major varies, so it may work.

Looks good!

SOC v SOS

Yep, I messed that one up.
