I think that is part of the reason that many people who really want that “Penn State” degree go to their local statellite campus and commute. The tuition is a little cheaper and you don’t have to pay room and board. I went to one of the PASSHE schools in the early 90’s. It was the lowest tuition in the state, from what I could find at the time. It looks like annual tuition has gone up about $3,000 total, which isn’t too terrible. These are the private, non profit institutions we're talking about... for the for-profits, it may even go up higher than that...
