Dual/Double Degree Requirements - whimsyUnleashed - 07-02-2023

For those that have completed simultaneous degrees, did you have to have 60 credit hours at UMPI or just the 30?  I'm looking at doing the BA Accounting & BABA Supply Chain at the same time and I'm not sure how many credits I should bother completing at Sophia/Study if I'll need 60 hours at UMPI.

I think that you will have to do one degree, graduate and then do the other. In other words, you cannot do two degrees at the same at UMPI.
What you are talking is TESU. There you can do both and then graduate at the same time. At UMPI is one after the other. Then you will have to do 30 credits for the first degree and then another 30 credits for the second degree. Most of them in the AOS and UL.

I did two degrees at the same time at UMPI. You just have to ask Jessica to add another degree after you are accepted for one of the degrees.

So does that mean you only had to complete 30 credits in residence at UMPI?

I wouldn't know that because I completed 60 credits total at UMPI so that I could take the CPA exam

There's a discrepancy somewhere, I'm not sure why you need a second degree when you can just do a double major.
You mentioned simultaneous degrees. It's doing two degrees at the same time to finish with one degree, and two majors.

For your example: BA Accounting & BABA Supply Chain, if you do both at the same time, it's ONE degree with TWO majors.
Having said that, if you graduate with the BA Accounting and then come back for BABA Supply Chain, that's TWO degrees.

Another example: BLS MIS minor & BA Accounting, this is two degrees as you get the BLS MIS first and then the BA Accounting.
You can't double major and you can only do the BLS MIS first as it can not be the second degree.

I am going to be doing the same thing. I have completed a bus admin degree. My plan is to take the accounting BA. It looks like, after everything transfers, I will have 10 classes to take to achieve that degree (30 credits). This will also conveniently put me at 150 credits needed for a CPA license.

One snag I am coming up with -- "Accounting Information Systems" is a required course to take the CPA exams in my state. Is it a requirement where you are? If so, what did you do about that?

I'm in NJ so it was not a requirement for me. Sorry I couldn't help.

Thanks for your response.

Have you registered to take an exam yet?

Amberton offers AIS:

https://amberton.edu/courses/accounting-information-systems/

It is a grad course so you'll need to complete your bachelor's degree before you can take it.
