MAOL questions - jarrett312 - 06-29-2023 I have 2 more classes out of the 11 needed to complete this upcoming session for my business administration focusing in supply chain management and I intend to do a 3rd to maximize undergrad transfer into MAOL. It is my understanding I can be conditionally approved for the following session in august, after august session, would I need to have my letter of recommendation ready or do I need it before? I have heard classes have been changed to reduce writing intensity can someone shed light on what page requirements look like now? In my UMPI undergrad classes I've had to reduce material in my essays, generally by half before submitting a draft to align with requirements. Lastly, I've gotten 4's on everything besides the BUS 325 test I got an 89%, but I had a 2.3/4.0 at community college, plus Sophia, study, etc etc could this prevent me doing the MAOL? I had 18 credits there and academically improved my last semester spring 2022. RE: MAOL questions - ss20ts - 06-29-2023 The MAOL requires a letter of recommendation as part of the application process. You have the person who wrote it submit it to UMPI. You'll probably be accepted into the MAOL. Don't stress over the GPA. RE: MAOL questions - bjcheung77 - 06-29-2023 @jarrett312, Continue on with your remaining classes (the 2 you're working on). I would complete the application process and apply with your current grades as you've got mainly A's to bump up the cumulative GPA. UMPI isn't as competitive or semi-competitive as most schools, if in the odd chance you don't make it into the MAOL, you can always go forward with WGU MSML as your back up or the HAU MBA if they still offer the $3K MBA, or whatever you feel would be a suitable backup option. Do you think a professor in the undergrad program would suffice or do you think they want to see previous managers? I’d like to ask Carl Michaud I’ve really enjoyed his classes but never established a personal rapport. None of my managers stem from academia but they’ve held high ranking enlisted positions in the military. TIA! RE: MAOL questions - bjcheung77 - 06-30-2023 I would get multiple LOR if possible, especially if you've taken more than a couple courses with the professor. Again, MAOL is not that competitive, they want students to succeed and if you've shown them you can do the undergrad even though you had a weaker GPA at the beginning of your studies, what mattered most is the recent studies you've accomplished thus far. Mix and match, a professor and a supervisor/manager letter of recommendation will do just fine... When I applied to the MAOL when it was first announced, I asked Professor Dorsey (now Vice Chancellor Dorsey) for a LOR and she was thrilled to write me one. I'm not as far along as you, but I hope to finish my remaining 6 classes for the BABA with Project Mngmt soon, and I'm also considering UMPI's MAOL. I love Professor Michaud, too. Do you all think a LOR from a former boss would be okay, too? RE: MAOL questions - ss20ts - 07-01-2023 You only need 1 LOR. I wouldn't worry about getting a bunch. 1 from an UMPI professor will go further than anyone else. RE: MAOL questions - LevelUP - 07-01-2023 One person mentioned in another thread that it's a good idea to ask the professor for LOR when the course starts considering that you get a high grade in the course. That way you can build some rapport with the professor. RE: MAOL questions - bjcheung77 - 07-02-2023 (07-01-2023, 03:29 PM)ss20ts Wrote: You only need 1 LOR. So, having two LOR is what I usually do. |
