Does the study.com OS course (CS 305) cover everything in WGU's OS course (C191 I)? - whiverem - 06-14-2023 Does the study.com operating systems course (Computer Science 305) cover everything taught in the WGU operating systems courses (C191 I think)? And f not, are there also other similar easy sites that would cover all the stuff taught in the WGU course? Thank you. RE: Does the study.com OS course (CS 305) cover everything in WGU's OS course (C191 I)? - MNomadic - 06-15-2023 You've asked this question a couple times now. The reason you didn't get a response is that no one would have reason to have that knowledge since there's no reason for someone to take a SDC class that doesn't transfer to WGU, and then attend WGU. There's likely a lot of places chocked full of knowledge that could help you but it will take a bit of google-fu on your part to find them(something you'll need as a CS student and future tech worker anyway.) If you have a lot more super specific WGU questions like this, it'll probably be easier for you to get responses in communities where there are actually a lot of WGU CS students. Check out discord, reddit and Facebook. Okay, thanks. Since I haven't gotten an answer here I won't ask this question here again. But I'm still hoping someone can chime in and provide a useful answer. I don't know how to find syllabus for WGU classes. For study.com courses I can look at the list of topics covered on the course's page - Is this something you would consider syllabus? Thanks. Edit: With a little google-fu like you suggested I did find this: https://app.sharebase.com/#/document/25224/share/138-4wgYt3vWGssTwqC11wc--K-ggKp8. I don't know if it's the same as the study.com course here: https://study.com/academy/course/computer-science-305-operating-systems.html. Even if they both list similar topics I don't know if it's an accurate indicator that the study.com course covers everything in the WGU course. RE: Does the study.com OS course (CS 305) cover everything in WGU's OS course (C191 I)? - dfrecore - 06-15-2023 There's just no way to know, unless someone has taken both the SDC course and then the WGU course - and then that also assumes that the person has the same knowledge base that you do. If I were you, and wasn't sure of the course material, I would probably use the SDC course AND a couple of other sources like Coursera or edX or something else out there. Also, not sure why you don't just take the course at WGU? That's an option as well. RE: Does the study.com OS course (CS 305) cover everything in WGU's OS course (C191 I)? - bjcheung77 - 06-15-2023 @whiverem, that's right, it's going to be hard to tell you what exactly matches between the two courses and not (or what's missing). If you really want to learn a specific subject, take one or the other, and supplement that with a textbook from a local library or another online resource. Not many people will take BOTH the Study.com and the WGU Operating Systems course... Generally, you want to read some reviews on each course and see what others say about the course/subject. Even different professors teaching a course with the same textbook may teach different and 'skip' some parts if they deem it's not too necessary to review those parts... There have been reviews of both online and even on this forum I believe. |
