US appeals court overturns first 'Varsity Blues' scandal convictions - smartdegree - 05-24-2023

I find it strange that this has not gotten as much publicity as it should.  

As usual, justice is different for the super rich.  The article says the convictions were overturned "because the trial judge erred in instructing jurors that admissions slots constituted property".  Basically, they were let go on a technicality.  

Must be amazing having elite lawyers on your side. 

Too bad for the rest of the Varsity Blues convicts who were just rich, not extremely rich LOL.

These elite colleges often will favor the rich and alumni which is also the rich.

Zero sympathy for any of the folks involved in this mess. Overturning a conviction doesn't mean that they won't be retried. They all deserve jail and fines. The colleges involved should have some stiff penalties as well. Losing their sports program wouldn't be out of the question.
