Which UoPeople courses to transfer and where? - ecdw94 - 05-21-2023 Hello DegreeForum community, can you please help me? I have the following courses left to do, and only 4 of them I have to take at UoPeople (due to the fact that I want to transfer 30 courses and you need to take 10 at UoPeople, and I have already taken or am finishing my 6th course now. 4 of them are CS Major courses) Plan was the following: Already done on UoPeople CS 1101: Programming Fundamentals CS 1102: Programming 1 CS 1103: Programming 2 [s]CS 2203: Databases 1[/s] Planning to do Google IT Support Certificate CS 1104: Computer Systems CS 2204: Comm. and Networking CS 2301: Operating Systems 1 Planning to do Google UX Design Certificate CS 2205: Web Programming 1 CS 3305: Web Programming 2 Planning to do IBM Data Engineering CS 4407: Data Mining and Machine Learning Left to do ENGL 1102: English Composition 2 CS 3306: Databases 2 CS 3307: Operating Systems 2 CS 4402: Comparative Programming Languages MATH 1302: Discrete Mathematics CS 2401: Software Engineering 1 CS 3303: Data Structures So, I have to do 4 of the courses to reach the "10 courses at UoPeople and transfer the rest" goal. But the question is, which courses should I do at UoPeople and which (and where from), should I transfer? I would for example not do CS 4402 since it seems like the exam is pretty hard to do and its proctored too. Personally, I have experience in Java, TypeScript and a bit of Python. Mainly working as a Java and Angular developer for like 5 years now. Edit: I have already done the big courses like College Algebra and Intro to Statistics as well as Calculus on Sophia. Been sitting on these courses for a month now as they aren't as easy as I thought and I have been out of touch with school stuff ![]() RE: Which UoPeople courses to transfer and where? - MrPanda - 09-27-2023 Study.com Data Structures & Algorithms -> Data Structures Study.com Introduction to Operating Systems -> Operating Systems 2 Study.com Discrete Mathematics -> Discrete Mathematics Study.com Database Management -> Databases 2 Study.com Artificial Intelligence -> Artificial Intelligence Probably Saylor´s Academy - Software Engineering for Software Engineering 2. So those are not actually electives. 72 credits in the major. 15 credits in the electives. 33 credits in General Education. I´m with a 2017 plan then. (In my Peruvian universities I got changed to a new plan every 18 months, and ended with new requirements all the time) RE: Which UoPeople courses to transfer and where? - MrPanda - 10-14-2023 Coursera IBM Applied Data Science Specialization could transfer for UoPeople CS 4407 Data Mining and Machine Learning. As it includes the "Lower-Division Baccalaureate / 3 credits / data mining" recommendation. However, that recommendation is for lower level, and CS 4407 is upper level. But it could be worth a shot, since that specialization is only 5 courses. The other alternative could be Coursera IBM Data Engineering Professional Certificate as mentioned by the OP, as it has "Upper-Division Baccalaureate / 3 credits / Practical Data Mining and Warehouse Implementation" among its credit recommendations. However, it´s 13 courses. Thought you do not need to take those electives to finish the degree? At least these do not show under the degree audit report. You can take any electives you can, so I thought. RE: Which UoPeople courses to transfer and where? - MrPanda - 10-15-2023 This is my audit, maybe it´s different because I started in 2017: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Goal-BA-or-BS-in-CS-or-IT?pid=403511#pid403511 |
