Lewis University to absorb St. Augustine College - bjcheung77 - 05-16-2023

With this merger, Lewis University will add about 11.2% to their total enrolment, they're currently at about 6500 students, and will add just 730 students from St Augustine College. The main reason these guys caught readers attentions is because they have bilingual programs (English/Spanish) and cater to roughly 30% Hispanic/Latino in the community.

A bilingual college is a great idea! Seems like there should be more of these. I do wonder how they get the word out that they exist? That 30% was that only 30% of the Hispanic/Latino community in the Chicago area have a degree. This made me wonder how many Hispanic/Latino people are bilingual. I hope that English as a second language courses are available in their programs so the students could become proficient at English which would open even more employment opportunities for them. I see many jobs looking for people who are both Spanish and English speaking in a number of different industries so a program such as this could really be the key to a successful career for many people.
